Do you ever come south of Leicester?

If invited.. yes. We have been to Swindon and we're supposed to go to Bristol next year but the invite was cancelled...

Good to meet you all and many thanks for the invitation inside.

Lots of unusual locos in operation, I was particularly taken by this one:

Enjoyable weekend at Liverpool. Some minor repairs undertaken (possibly due to the heat and lack of use over the last 3 years!)

We managed to get it taken down and into the van OK..  apart from a cloudburst as we were putting the last few items into the van.

A minor wiring change has been identified.this may be done before Wigan or when we set up there.

Very few stock casualties.. nothing that can't be fixed.

Next up... WiganShow!

Despite tropical storms we managed to get the layout set up last night. Hopefully it will have dried out.

This morning. Minor electrical changes/fixes done by @innocentman, then the layout was tested and stock added.

Two Fells in place.. both kit built ones..

Let the trains roll!

So the layout has visited Preston and York Shows so far this year.

Some major servicing of Tortoise point motors has been undertaken and more work is now planned for the layout. Hopefully a visit to see @seahorse to hand back some very interesting operations information  and to gain more information on the houses we have had as a "place holder" since 2017 should happen this year.

More operator training will be undertaken prior to the Open Day.. dates soon!

My task is to rebuild the signals and get their servos fitted.

Thanks for the very positive comments received at Preston and York.

I thought Tortoise were ‘fit for life’ - was it servicing or adjustments?

It's the internal switches. These are very old

D tortoises and the wipers on these were held by a bit of melted plastic. One failed so the rest have been replaced/improved to stop it happening again.

Well, we ended up an operator down due to illness. Layout behaved though.

Back to Leeds, unloaded and home by midnight.

Layout is now back up inthe Club room. Servos for signals are in place. When I feel a bit better (having ended up in hospital for a week post Swindon) I will connect the signals up.

2024 shows

As our show at the end of October has been cancelled due to building work at the venue our next shows are:

Normanton and Pontefract MRS in January 2024

Bristol in May.

Hopefully the signals will be operational by then.. and more varieties of trains will be on display.
