A very interesting edition - thanks to all the contributors and to Grahame for pulling it together.

I particularly liked the racking article for baseboard supports. Like the author I've no connection to the particular supplier he used, but can confirm its a good quality product.

As a correction, the cut-off date for pre-ordering the Hunslet 0-6-0 shunter has been mis-printed in this issue of the journal.

The correct cut-off date is 31 December 2018.

Actually AFAIA it's not a final cut off date, but the deadline for ordering at the early discounted price. It can still be ordered afterwards but at the full price. And, of course, only by members.

My understanding was that it was the same as happened for the Carflats, in that no further orders were taken until they were in stock and available for general sale.

I will seek clarification on that.

Following discussion with the Society Treasurer, I can confirm that after 31/12/2018 the 'order book' will close.

After that date, member's will not be able to order or reserve any model until the models have been received and the pre-orders distributed. After that, the models will be on general sale.

Best

Scott

  • Flaxby - Kevin Franklin recounts his layouts development
  • Oh No! Not Another Diorama - Tim Cooney produces yet another diorama
  • Pugs on Parade - Jeremy Burrows’ pug model locomotives
  • Mail Train - Members letters

As usual there will be the separate Newsletter publication accompanying it with Society news and announcements. Both are expected to be posted out in the last full week of January.

The article on "Modelling with a Disability" was quite different from the usual articles on offer and though I am fortunate to enjoy good health, it helped me appreciate that that is not the case for everyone. It was interesting to read about useful medical aids too. A humbling article in my opinion and well done to Mr Faulkner for sending that in.

Same here, no sign of it in Ayrshire.

If they've still not arrived it might be worth contacting the Membership Secretary (if you're sure it's not trapped in snow).

Arrived safely in West Yorkshire a few days ago. Flaxby looks like an excellent piece of modelling and left me wanting to see more of it.

It's a shame that Grahame's still having to write two or three articles per issue.

Mike Bloomfield - membership secretary. I don't know his email off hand but it will be on the NGS website and in all previous issues of the Journal.
