McGomez
If anyone could give me info on this photo, I would be delighted. Such as - where is it? And the working? The slide mount gives the loco as 33201 and the date 21st Aug 1985. Did the Cliffe-Uddingston cement trains last that long? 33201_21_8_85.jpg I´m only 4 and a bit years late to this thread but the location looks like it is East Hyde, just north of Harpenden. Look for Tim Easters Flickr site as it is one of his favoured locations. That would also tie in with Eastwestdivides info regarding the Dunstable Cement service. I had 2 models in Fragonset livery that I was going to paint Blue, but I could only find pics of 102 with a headlight, so I ended doing the other to 101 in Departmental Grey. I could have removed the headlight but I didn't want to !! Am I right in thinking the pipe attachment under the light on 102 is for the flashing light used on the Weymouth branch ? Cheers, Phil. The pipe attachment seen was unique to 33102 and enabled it to work in conjunction with "The Swedish Scrubber" QXA ADB 977695, a rail head treatment vehicle converted from a GUV papers van of sorts IIRC...apparently if worked very well at removing leaf mulch in trials but was not followed up on cost grounds, 33102 had some extra buttons in the cabs to actuate the scrubbing gear too. The Weymouth light/bell was worked via the small socket found on the front of all 33/1's when in service (33102 seems to have lost this in preservation too) **Just realised I am replying to a post from June! Hope the info is still useful anyway Edited October 21, 2018 by Bert Cheese

billy_anorak59
8/8/1986 - 33025 arrives at Bristol TM Just stumbled on this one - interesting to see how this photo compares with the same loco I took at Crewe. I noticed it as this locos 'Arrow of Indecision' seems more indecisive than usual! I have the Crewe date down as 22/09/79 where the arrows look worn, but ba14eagle has his dated in 1986 where the arrows look much fresher. Did they actually repaint them in this condition? Same loco, same location, same date.

Grampus
Evening all, first, a couple of shots of 33112 taken at Salisbury during May 1988 (I am unable to narrow down the date reliably any tighter than that, I'm afraid), followed by what appears to be '048 on a Portsmouth-Bristol/Cardiff at Skew Bridge, west of Salisbury taken at approximately the same date. Happy to be corrected: I could not clean up the image any further to make sure. Going slightly OT for a moment if you will indulge me, how about this for a birthday cake, presented to me by my family yesterday? The detail (made of icing) is just amazing! What a wonderful present. The cake tasts good too, though I cannot bring myself to cut the loco: thankfully the tunnel and earthworks are quite substantial! Best wishes, Paul
