Class 33 Photos

Surprisingly I have very few 33's in my photo collection.

33012 at an Old Oak Common open day on a rare moment when there was no one between camera lens and loco:

33207 on a Railtour in Horsham of all places:

33207 again at London Victoria:

Dear all,

Just a quick note to say I have subscribed as a 'Gold' user to allow me to up-load my photos to galleries, and have started putting what pictures I have labelled under the various headings.  Most are mediocre at best, but as I said in the galleries' introduction, I hope the information is of interest and use at least to a few.  It saves clogging these message threads with images.  Thanks.

Er.... isn’t this clearly labelled as a photo thread, as are many others, and popular they are too. Quality isn’t the issue, it about nostalgia for past times. That said will certainly be interested in a gallery.

Yes, the “head out of the window” photo above may not win prizes for technical quality, but it’s one of the best “takes you back to being there” picture that i’ve seen in a long time.

You can hear it, feel it, smell it even.

My “head out of the window” period was a good while before 1988, when it was taken, but still ......

A few taken on a cheap 110 film camera. 33 109 at a very wet and dull Weymouth Quay. 6-7-80.

And a couple of head out the window shots of 33061 on a 'Merrymaker' cheap day tour to Margate and Ramsgate from the Manchester area. It left Atherton Station at daft and dark 'o'clock am behind an unknown class 40 which was changed for a unknown class 86 at Wigan N.W. The class 33 took over somewhere north of London, probably near Wembley?

33 061 backs onto the mk1 coaches.

Head out the window at Margate.

At Mitre Bridge Junction just off the WCML on the WLL to Kensington just before the NLL joins. Same location for the return.

It is true that loco changes between the WCML and SR frequently occurred at Mitre Bridge however the photo showing the 33 backing onto the train is not there.  It is on the up relief line alongside Wembley yard.  The WCML slow and fast lines are on the right.  The electrically hauled express is on the up fast.

And the blue building in the distance is the McVities factory alongside the Willesden Relief lines after they've dived under the fast and slow lines ;)

Sadly no picture but a light engine 33 just clattered it's way through Southampton Central about fifteen minutes ago.

Of course it might have been a ghost....

On one notable Sunday AM in 1982 ISTR, a 33 was booked to Watford to pick up a Margate bound excursion - my mate was rostered to work the southbound leg as far as Gillingham and I went along for the ride (as a legitimate member of staff of course - checking the DC Lines conductor rails ………………… 8-)

Apologies but wasn't 33036 written off following the accident at Mottingham in 1977?

It is in the 1979 ABC, but missing from my 1986 Platform 5.

The only missing one in 1979 was 33041.
