New Farish products for 2014/2015

Thanks for that, but as I suspected it is preceded with 'as previously mentioned' (where?) and is not attributed.

It's starting to sound a bit someone said he said - Chinese whispers?  Hopefully there will be three new products although I very much doubt that means three new locos as many seem to think with their wish lists.

I believe when the quote above is taken in the context of the whole post, 'as previously mentioned' refers to new products being launched in general at the start of the post, and then subsequently confirms 3 new tool items in each scale in that sentence.

What isn't yet confirmed is whether that is 3 new tool locos, or 3 new tool models including locos, coaching stock and freight stock. I guess we'll have to wait until the 20th to be certain!

Yep, unfortunately that is rather tenuous for me, not at all specific and rather unsubstantiated. There's no accreditation as to who said it and attaching it to something 'in general' is rather weak particularly when the main message and thrust was about rising costs and prices. It's probably best not to get ones hopes up too much.

But hey ho, it is all a matter of just exactly what gets announced and, more importantly, when (and if) it gets delivered. Getting our hands on some of the previously announced stuff would be nice but as we all know there's trouble and delays ahead in China. And unfortunately all suppliers/manufacturers seem to be suffering with that. Dapol's new product list is taking longer and the Hornby N Brighton Belle is starting to drag on. Sigh.

HI Grahame

It says right at the start of the above mentioned Bachmann thread that announcements usually made in March were being held over until July to tie in with the Bachmann 25th anniversary.

The originator of the piece looks to be RMweb's very own Andy York so I would expect that the news is well informed and that the said announcements will be made.

Regards

Roy

The numbers three new items in OO and three new items in N are also quoted in the piece that Railway Modeller did on the Bachmann press meeting (last month's issue- the current one covers the Hornby meeting).  Similarly the piece in MREMag.com on the Bachmann price increases quotes the following-

"Bachmann will be announcing new products at their forthcoming 25th Anniversary on 20th July which will include 3 new tooling items for OO and 3 new tooling items for N".

I think we can take those numbers as correct.

All the very best

Les

edited for typo.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm convinced it'll be a King tomorrow--following on from work on the Castle. Any bets?

I will bet against. ;) I don't see any hurry on this one.

After all the safe and sensible betting, I think we are going to be blindsided by something out of left field. Probably something that they have just announced in 00 and we were not expecting to see in N (at least, not yet).

Well, for the SR and constituent devotee, there's an SECR Grey version of the new 'N' class, along with shrink-rayed versions of the SECR 'Birdcage' stock available in SECR Brown, SR Olive and BR Vermillion (sic). Presumably by 'Vermilion' (note correct spelling, Farish...) they mean Crimson?

The Birdcage stock will (only?) be available as a three-coach pack consisting of one each of the Brake vehicles and a Compo. A nice touch as these ran as fixed sets and at least now one can get enough brake vehicles, (unlike with the Bulleid stock).

EDIT: (before someone posts what an idiot I am...)

Not really a southern man but I presume the Birdcage stock was mainly used on the eastern section (and later some on the IoW). Would I be right in assuming it did not make its way onto the western section?

I believe the ones on the Isle of Wight had their 'cages' reduced or removed prior to transfer to the Island due to restricted clearances. Hence the general use of ex-LBSC arc-roof stock in later years, as they could be used without major modifications...

It would have been possible to see 'Birdcage' stock as far west as Reading (via the SECR Redhill-Reading route). The SEMG 'Sets' spreadsheet apparently does not include the Birdcage Trios, unless I've been extremely dense and missed them, so can't confirm whether the Birdcage stock 'escaped' from ex-SECR metals under later ownership (other than to the IoW)...

So if I understand it correctly all we're getting is a steam engine and some coaches to match, Hardly game changing is it.

What about a re-tooled class 40

What about a silver Pullman

Is there ever going to be some freightliner containers in 1970's colours?

What about the class 205 demu in nguage

When is the class 31 actually due?

Hi Stuart,

Farish produced some earlier Freightliner liveries a few years ago and they can be picked up on eBay from time to time. Check out these links:

Distinctly underwhelmed. Also very disappointed by the lack of progress on many models announced last year. Work not even started on the Castle or auto-coach. 6400 still on the drawing board.

Only the Hawksworth coaches seem to have progressed on the Western front and Farish are still only offering these in crimson and cream despite Maroon, plain crimson and chocolate and cream all being valid liveries for some or all of these coaches.
