I have almost finished my model of D200 and while weathering the roof I noticed it has some extra beading which goes along the top of the cantrail grilles and out past the roof fan to the next roof section. I will live without it for now but may fix it another day.

Hope that makes sense. Cheers Peter.

Thanks.

I was racking my brains trying to figure out what junction that was, and I think I have only ever seen photos from the platform ends; but now this angle has been pointed out I see exactly what you mean. Lateral thinking was never my strong point.

I don't have any roof shots of D200, I've still a few side shots left.

40122 + 44767 at Carlisle with 1Z10 Carlisle - Kilmarnock BR Special "The Nith Valley Express" I believe this was BR cashing in on a move to get the Steam loco to Scotland.

40122 piloted 44767 under the wires to Annan where 44767 worked to Kilmarnock then 40122 worked the train back to Carlisle.

Scottish D262 in 1967.  Note the witness mark of the sealed up nose doors between the horn grilles, and the asymmetric yellow panel with squared-off bottom.

EDIT: also, the sixties-vogue young woman literally snapped in the act of standing up from the bench!

I recently bought this one from an auction site as I thought it was well weird.

Turns out to be 33101 rescuing 40001 at Eastleigh from the Campbell road bridge??? after it ran out of fuel with a Coatbridge - Southampton Maritime liner on 18/06/1983

Was the loco supposed to be swapped somewhere but wasn't resulting in the 40 failure?

There are some more photos of the event here https://www.flickr.com/search/?q=40001%20eastleigh

Hi Steve - Interesting photo, but I don't think that it was taken from the Campbell Road bridge, the location just does not look right to me :dontknow: - But I am sure someone here will identify correctly.

Keep em coming.

Cheers, Bob.

Here is, I believe, 40 133 at Landudno in the late 70s. Note that it is registered for the road. I think a  friend who I went on railway trips with took this pic and gave me this print but I'm sure he won't mind me showing it here.

was 40162 the last to retain working blinds? i was used to seeing this everytime i went to edinburgh in the early-mid 80s as it was parked up at haymarket depot for about 6-7 years. (from late '82?)

some pics show it lost the pony wheels at one end.

i think it eventually went to millerhill in '87 for scrapping.

for interest it was also one of the locos to lose its blue-star equipment, just holes left on the bufferbeam/bogie sides

Yes 40162 was the last with working blinds. Actually I think all the long-term Haymarket locos had their multiple working removed, from sometime in the late 1960s. Haymarket also had the habit of adding screens behind the drivers and secondman' seats on their 40s, a similar arrangement to the Deltics.

You can see the screens by the door and behind the seat in these shots of 40162.

How many had red buffer beams towards the end?

The ones I can think of ... 40056, 40060, 40079, 40122, 40155, 40177

...oh and 40012 in departmental use (97407)

Cheers
