RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted April 17, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 17, 2014 Hi Been away for a week so I haven't managed to get anything finished, just need a few finishing touches to the 08 and green 37, I promise I'll get these two finished this week!!!!! Two new loco's have arrived as a commission for bri.s, an n gauge 37 and 47, both in BR Green and ready for a good weathering, the 37 will be getting full yellow ends to. I'll get some before pictures of them both on here tomorrow an I'll try and do a more detailed step by step guide on their weathering to. RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted April 21, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 21, 2014 Well I've had a good days weathering today, I've sealed the 08 chassis with matt varnish so apart from fitting a dcc chip it's finished an I have to say it's one of my favorites so far. The green 37 is just in need of some mu jumper cables (I've just snapped both!!) then that'll be done to. So in all quite happy, I'm more or less finished the n gauge 47 to. Some pics below of the complete 08 then I'll up load a step by step of the 47. Cheers, Paul
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted April 21, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 21, 2014 For the class 47 bri.s wanted a faded run down look so the first thing I did was use the fibre pen an brush down the body in downward strikes, this started giving the body work that faded look. Once it was brushed with the pen I then used a paint brush to remove any excess paint/dust etc. I then went about using the weathering powders as described earlier in the thread. Once the body was suitably 'dirty' I sealed it with the matt varnish using the airbrush, I then used the fibre pen to remove the sealed powder to give the desired look. I then turned to the chassis, weathered black was applied then a light dusting of light earth to the front and a soot black to the rear of the bogies and fuel tanks, I then used a gloss varnish around certain areas again adding black powder to simulate an oily look. I'm quite happy with the look although some of the light earth to the bogies needs toning down a little and the camera doesn't really do it justice. Detailing to one end also needs adding. Hope you enjoy the pics and any questions feel free to ask. Many thanks Paul
