Ive now weathered up my CEA Load haul Hopper wagons,

little bit of rust on the under frames of each wagon.

Then using photos ive have of these hopper wagons!!

ive now added "white ish" powder along the sides of each wagon,

to show spillage of the compounds they carry.

I mentioned it on the layout thread, but these are so nice it is worth repeating, those wagons loo like cans left out to rust in bad weather.....really nice observation.

One thing I noticed when looking at a passing train of Thrall coil-carriers at Cardiff Central a while back was that there was a lot of patch re-painting in something very close to BR Bauxite (the earlier colour). It almost looked as if someone at a wagon-repair depot had found some old cans at the back of the stores.

That last pictures...is really good hence my crafty clever. The colours are very realistic, and the detail you add all serves to make it more and more realistic. Lovely.

Thanks Jaz my mate, glad you like them..

What you can see is ordinary red oxide primer.....  Nothing special, easier to get hold of than maroon.  Wagon repairers only have a small palette when it comes to repairs.....

those MBAs are good, there was a rake here in the yard at swindon on Wednesday full of scrap that looked just like them

I went to Liverpool docks last week to snap some more photos of these wagons, :senile:  Port Police were very helpful, which makes change... :locomotive:  :locomotive:
