In my case W10 and Edge. I tried Hpps://sefinecast.co.uk and got a warning of an untrustworthy site.  There is something very strange going on.  I suspect that validation certificates have not been updated and consequently some systems (the better protected ones - perhaps too protected) are rejecting access.

I've been able to access with Safari on OSX and iOS, but both show a warning of a not secure connection. So no https certificate.

That was the problem the last time that we had this issue.

SEF's webmaster needs to keep certificates up-to-date.

John Isherwood.

It isn't the only model railway site like that. Some browsers some to be more tolerant than others

IT, it's so logical...

It's only got a localhost certificate - so it's not a case of keeping it up to date, it's just got a self-generated one which is essentially meaningless. But there's nothing on the site to warrant it being secured - you can't order through it etc. Just use http://www.sefinecast.co.uk and it should all be fine.

It's quite a dated site, but it serves its purpose.

All these work fine for me:

server2012 r2 (essentially windows 8.1) - chrome and internet explorer

windows 10 - chrome, internet explorer and chrome

windows 7 - internet explorer and firefox.

I've not managed to find anything it doesn't work on :)

Fail = Chrome on macbookpro, just clicked your link, same replace index message as usual. It is something odd as it isn't consistent across users and devices.

Sorry - you're wrong!

It doesn't work for many of us - as has been pointed out already.

Regards,

John Isherwood.

I didn't say there wasn't issues - I was referring to not needing an SSL certificate for the site - i.e. it should be fine without one. Sorry if i wasn't clear :)

It seems to be predominantly Mac devices that are having the issues?

Still not working for me, this happened after installing the latest Windows 10 update. I am using Goggle Chrome to access it

What version of Chrome? Help - About shows the version number.

The win 10 PC I tested it on is version 1903 so the latest, with the most recent cumulative update. Chrome version 75.0.3770.100

Just tried some testing -

i-phone (1) Safari = failed. (2) Chrome - successful  (3) Firefox = not tried

i-pad  (1) Chrome - failed (2) Safari = successful (3) Firefox = not tried

Macbook pro - (1) Chrome = failed (2) Safari = failed (3) Firefox = successful

From one of the notes that Firefox displayed it may be to do with their http: & https" setup clashing with browser settings as you suggest, however, it wasn't clear from the displayed message what the problem is.

I am sympathetic, I have similar issue on my island-publishing site currently (too many cookies message) although it still allows everyone in, but not had time yet to investigate the cause which I pretty sure will be somewhere in the Wordpress settings needing putting back to what I had it set to before an upgrade reset things back to a default!

Firefox opened it yesterday on this device (Macbookpro) After today's firefox update it won't. The http version has the indexing message.

The shown message on https: is -

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.sefinecast.co.uk. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). Error code: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

In due course I would like to know the cause so I don't repeat whatever the problem is on one of the sites I manage.

Fine here.

But I've been having problems with Windows since about mid afternoon. It keeps trying to update, yet nothing is happening. Then I get an error message about failed update.

So possibly the problems are being caused by Windows as this seems to occur every time they are doing updates.
