Jack374
Great first day, with only a few issues with a couple of items of stock and the points on the layout. I constructed them with far too tight a radius and so almost all items of stock struggle on them. My ambition was to exhibit the layout, and I have now! Below are quite a few photos: And the layout had an unusual visitor yesterday...during setting up we found a ladybird had taken up residence on the layout, and today it flew back. It must be a fan of DRS stock! And a final view, as Google Earth has sent a satellite over the area: Including Cal making a mess of things (as per)... In all seriousness, a huge thanks to Cal for putting up with the layout (and me) this weekend, and also to Mick for lending me Caroline and a BR Large Logo 37 for the weekend. And of course, the team at BELMRS have been outsanding and I'm very grateful for being invited and looked after. Thanks, Jack. 14

I know there were...One was called Mick. I like the look of it, the fading and battered appearance looked good... ...And the loco didn’t look too bad either! Crisis Rail
All in all a quiet "BELMRS" exhibition - yours was the only "up to date"Modern Era layout this weekend unless I missed something.......? One or two usual traders disappointingly missing too. Edited November 10, 2019 by Crisis Rail
georgeT
Very impressed with subtle weathering when l saw it at Blackburn yesterday Jack, very nice.
cal.n
Here are some of my images from the weekend. The layout performed well, only with certain locos struggling in certain known places. Otherwise it’s a great layout to show off Jacks all singing and dancing DRS fleet. Mr Ladybird making a return to the layout. 20303 awaits having a B exam in the shed building. The very special ‘halo’ marker lights on 68002. 37716 is fuelled in the morning sun.

sb67
Nice photo's Jack, glad the show was ok. Is there anything you can do about the points, does smaller wheelbase stock run over them ok? Steve.
Jack374
Many thanks for the comments guys, very much appreciated! And a huge thanks to Cal who put up with me for the weekend and also put up with the poor running at certain points. The photos are great, cheers. The trackwork is very tight to cram everything in and I wasn’t the most experienced when I built the points (at 14 years old....), so some locos which are light or co-co wheelbase struggle. In answer to your query Steve, it’s more the weight which affects the performance, as a Bachmann 57 is faultless yet a class 08 really struggles. The show has flagged up a few areas which need attention, both on layout and stock fronts. I’ll have a look at the stock first and then get the layout up at some point and have a fiddle. Quite impressed how well it ran in all honesty considering the state of the trackwork, but it proves that clean track and wheels make a world of difference. I’ve also installed a DCC Concepts α-power box which I was very impressed with. I'm not sure when/if it’ll be out again soon, as my main goal was to exhibit it and then move on to a.n.other project. I’ve had a potential invite to a fairly local show in 2021 though, so watch this space! Once again, many thanks to Cal for helping out and to all the BELMRS team for a faultless show. I’ll post the last set of pics from Sunday this week hopefully. Cheers, Jack.
Jack374
A couple more photos below, as well as a video of 20303 arriving to give a flavour of the sound. It was nice to get natural light on Sunday morning! I don't expect the layout to be up again soon as I'll be taking it to my parents' house this weekend for storage. With university assignments looming, I doubt I'll do much modelling in the coming months. I've had a great few months though, operating on Deadman's Lane and then exhibiting TEY, so it's been well worth it. Finally, a huge thanks to all who have liked, commented and came to see TEY this weekend. Much appreciated Keep modelling! Jack.

Jack374
Today I dusted off the layout which has been in store for a year, and took a few snaps. Needless to say I haven't done any more work on it and have moved on to bigger things with Fordley which is where my layout attention is currently focused. Nevertheless, here is a snap taken today with a very festive feel... Season's Greetings to all my RMweb friends, and anyone who has viewed, rated, commented or followed my work in 2020. I wish you and your family a peaceful Christmas and all the best for 2021. Hopefully a better year is in store and we can get some quality modelling done! Once again thanks for all the support, I really do appreciate it. Cheers!! Jack. 6
