Watch the BRM Boy’s demonstrations at the MRL Theatre

Here is the schedule for the day...

11.00am – 11.45am: What RMweb can do for you! By Andy York

Is what it says on the tin!

12.00pm – 12.45pm: The Great Train Robbery by Nigel Adams

Our guest speaker talks to us about the creation of this prolific point in time diorama.

2.30pm – 2.45pm: Building BRM’s Beginner’s Project Layout: How I built Edgeworth by Phil Parker

The Edgeworth build process has been serialised in BRM magazine’s January, February and March issues, giving readers step-by-step advice on how to build their own version of Edgeworth.
This is the perfect talk for modellers who want advice on building their first layout, or are looking for easy, practical advice to enhance their current layout.

3.00pm – 3.45pm: Building Peneanmawr in O gauge by Howard Smith

Take a seat and follow how BRM’s Staff Writer Howard Smith is making progress with the build of his O gauge project layout based on a real location. Penmaenmawr set in the mid-90s aims to keep people entertained with a busy mainline location and adjacent ballast loading facility.

With the show less than two weeks away we are now delighted to announce the latest news from The Medway Queen Preservation Society.

The Medway Queen Preservation Society will return to the 2014 London Festival of Railway Modelling, with a new launch and some good news!

Firstly, The Medway Queen has had its hull completely rebuilt in Bristol and has been towed to Gillingham pier in Kent for fitting out.

Also, the society has also extended their wagon project this year with more “Gillingham Pier” related models to bring to Alexandra Palace.  Exclusive to our show, the Medway Queen Preservation Society will be launching their first N gauge offering: The wagon is fictional but the thought of bulk shipments from Gillingham Pier is an attractive fantasy. The wagon is ready to run and produced by “Robbie’s Rolling Stock” from Peco components; the design is exclusive to the Medway Queen Preservation Society.

Their existing “Gillingham” wagons in 00 and N, lettered “New Medway Steam Packet Co. Ltd.”, will also be available at the show for purchase.

Pre-booking closes 14th March at 9am.... DON'T MISS OUT!

Confusion..............I havent checked out the BRM Exbn thread re Ally Pally until today.

But....as this was a BRM exbn.....I thought I might check out the BRM Exbns section in the Warners Group area on RMweb..........but its not there....its here under the general exhibtions threads.???

Is this where ALL future threads of BRM exbns will posted......I personally think it would be a good  thing if they were????

Thanks Bob

PS......Not a criticism......I like the BRM exbns and attend most of them.......and am going to Ally Pally next saturday.

Spent all my dosh at the East Anglian Railway Exhibition last weekend. So am not going. But to be frank I dislike travelling to London and all its hassles so my next BRM trip will be in October to Peterborough. However I do hope all of you who do go have a really good time and I'm sure it will be a really good show.

There was a tread in BRM Exhibitions about this show but I can't find it now, strange.

There was a tread in BRM Exhibitions about this show but I can't find it now, strange.

If left to the exhibitions team there'd have been about 15 threads. )

I had to do some merging and it's debatable which forum is best for it anyway so I've linked it to appear in both.

Good morning Andy

Maybe its just me, and it only a small point, but I only tend to check for all exhibitions in the one place...even though I know its a Warners event, I would prefer to see them in this section.

One other thing I would request of all Exhibition threads is.....that they put the date of the event in the title if possible, as some already do....if only month and year.??

Looking forward to our visit to Ally Pally next Saturday.  Hope it is a success for everyone.

Bob.

Ahh...I see you have linked it in both......thats a good idea..!!

And dated too........Thanks.

Always enjoy this show, but I just hope this year the top of the climb from the station doesn't look like this:

As much as I like snow, standing outside in it waiting to be let in was not fun!

Waiting to be allowed into the building is one problem I won't have to face on Saturday - the first coach to London from my part of the world isn't booked to reach Victoria until 0915.

Likelihood of me reaching Alexandra Palace much before 1000? About zero, I should think.

I'll probably be checking out the books - just in case they're a different selection from the (rather good) ones that were on offer at "Warley".

As for saying hello, I suspect that this (and any seminars) is likely to offer the best chance of meeting up with the team (and with other RMweb members) - as I haven't noticed any talk of RMweb "meet and greet" sessions.

Incidentally, does anybody know what the catering and bar areas are like at Alexandra Palace? I'm assuming that these areas must exist - even if they (and the range offered and prices charged) are much like those that exhibition and trade show visitors everywhere have come to know and loathe love. (Reminder to self - one of these days, I really must learn how to do sarcasm ... .)

Also, are there arrangements in place to allow show visitors to leave the hall - and return a short while later - without paying again - much like what goes on at "Warley" / the NEC?

Anyway, that's more than enough questions from me.

I'm just looking forward to the show.

Regards,

Huw.

There are various catering areas around the perimeter and also a restaurant downstairs. Its the usual exhibition venue prices.

The last few years there has been a great real ale bar to the right of the great hall stained glass window serving Pin Up ales. Hopefully the same this year.

We don't seem to have those any more, which is a shame.  Andy Y's talk would be a good place and time for us to meet.

How will we recognise you, Huw?  I recall vaguely that you are wary of name badges ...

The talk's aimed more at those not familiar with what RMweb is/can do but I have no objection to the usual hecklers showing up!

Ok. On this subject, is there any out there that could confirm the dates for the 2015 event.

Why you ask. I was given the holiday list to book the relevant time off.

Terry.

Next year's dates for The London Festival of Railway Modelling are the 28th - 29th March (2015)

This year we have an RMweb meeting area in the cafe by the Grand Organ.
