Robatron86
Evening all, Another repaint is on the go now that I have finished the GP38-2. My U33C in Southern Pacific livery: And after an evenings work: I beginning to enjoy these. Thanks for looking, Rob
The Bigbee Line
I like the U33C, it has that ugly brutish look about it.
Robatron86
They are awesome beasts, but very strange looking in bright colours.
Robatron86
Got a little bit more done.
DanielB
Nice work - you are getting really good at these repaints.
Adrian Wintle
That looks good, but it also shows the reason I like railroads with monochrome colour schemes... (PRR, PC, Conrail, NS) Adrian
DanielB
Rob, consider me inspired by this thread - think I'll crack on with my repaints tonight!
Robatron86
I agree Adrian. Especially as on this one I had old 3/4 angle pics to go on. Made drawing the curve in quite difficult. The next one, a GP30, I already have one so I can do side by side comparisons. Go for it Daniel. I'm glad I have inspired you!
CraigZ
Very impressive work. Warbonnets are a pain to do. If you can get the Microscale warbonnet decals, they make doing the curve easier. Photocopy the decal and use that to draw out your masking. Even if you don't use the decal on the model itself the masking is easier to get right. Robatron86
I had been looking at getting some masking vinyl which I can cut to shape, but I seem to be finding it easier and easier to do by eye.
CraigZ
For that kind of masking I've had great success with Tamiya's masking tape. I'm not usually a big fan of proprietary products like that, but whatever that tape is it's the best product I've ever used. Thin, flexible and stays in place but is very good about not lifting existing paint....
Robatron86
Thanks Craig. I will look it up and do some research.

DanielB
Looking back at this thread as a relatively new convert to the awesomeness of the Espee, I am somewhat sad that this loco got repainted. But at the same time, ATSF are awesome too, and your paint job is phenomenal. I'm hoping to do one of my own this week, though not a GE, and not into ATSF. Talltim
I've got a U33C to repaint, from PC black to Guilford patched PC black. Should be nice and easy...
Robatron86
Thank you Dan. Sorry I haven't been around much. I have been preoccupied with the arrival of our first born, but I will be back on track soon as.
