cromptonnut
As per topic description really. Does anyone model third rail in 2mm, and if so, what components (or methods) do you use please. Thanks in advance.
Steve Sykes
I don't model this myself, but there's a section in the Association's "Track" book that covers building third rail track and has descriptions of jigs to set the conductor rail at the right distance. Hi Code 40 rail is available from Marcway models in Sheffield and they do mail order. http://www.marcway.net/ or did you mean the book which I think there were plans to sell to non members but I can't remember what happened. cromptonnut
It was the rail thanks - will make a jig myself with dimensions from below http://homepage.ntlworld.com/russelliott/3rd-4th.html
Rabs
If you aren't a member of the 2SA you can get code 40 rail here: http://www.britishfinescale.com/category-s/1818.htm The book track is available to non-members.
2mm Andy
The code 40 rail that Wayne at British Finescale sells is from the same die as the 2mm SA rail. Marcway rail is a very slightly different section. The 'Track' book is available to all from the website below or from the 2mm Roadshow at selected exhibitions (next outing is the York show at Easter); http://www.2mm.org.uk/products/trackbook/ Andy

2mm Andy
Hi Still works in the Easitrac chairs though. Cheers Paul Yes, it does. I used to use it before the 2SA code 40 rail came in straight lengths. I believe the difference in dimensions is in the rail head, so the difference wouldn't affect the fit into the Easitrac chairs. cromptonnut
That looks very good, thankyou. I was wondering about "proper" third rail pots but I guess it would barely be seen in 2mm and it would be incredibly fragile anyway?
