Hello all,

I'm trying to compile a list of the versions of the chips (Loksound 3.5 or 4) used in Bachmann sound-fitted diesel locomotives. Below is a list of what I believe are all the sound-fitted locomotives Bachmann have produced so far. I've put a few that I know myself alongside, I therefore appeal to RMweb members to help me complete the rest. When complete I believe it will be a useful resource for people buying second hand sound locomotives.

Cheers,

Does anyone know if putting a Lok 3.5 into a loco previously fitted with a loksound select whether it will work ok?  [obviously will have to change speaker to a 10ohm].

That would depend on the project having a function for the cab light....if your swapping for Bachmann factory class 37 or 47 sound that would be the case, Howes or biffo, or SWD, I couldn't tell you...

yes that's what I'm thinking.. so I should've been more accurate , its a lok 3.5 original Bachman decoder I'm thinking of fitting into a Bachman 66 that previously had a select in it .. like you say dependent on the scheme Bachman used. They didn't have cablights on the first ones I believe so the function may not been on it.. [?]

Evening all,

I just wondered if anyone would be able to help, I have a Bachmann 32-429DS but it doesnt have paperwork in the box.

If anyone has this model and would be able to scan a copy of the paperwork for me that would be amazing.

Thanks,

Amey!

The instructions for the 32-685SDSF (45041 Royal Tank Regiment) say ESU 21MTC Loksound V5 with an 8 ohm 40mm x 20mm Tray Type speaker.

32-426DS Class 24 Diesel D5038 BR Two Tone Green Indicator Discs (DCC Sound)

Picked an unboxed preowned one of these up from my local shop this weekend. Does anyone know if its a loksound 3.5 or 4? And where i can get a sound function sheet from. Quick glance at the Bachmann website came up with nothing.

July 2021 Release - Bachmann 32-682SF - Class 45/0 Centre Headcode D53 'Royal Tank Regiment' BR Green (SYP) - Confirmed to be a Loksound V5 21 Pin. Haven't had a chance to look inside yet as I've only had the chip type confirmed by my local with a Lokprogrammer before purchasing, but would presume the speaker is a 4 or 8 ohm 40mm x 20mm Tray Type speaker.

The Speaker on the back will say:

100 Ohm    (This is a V3.5)

4 Ohm  (This is a V4 / V5)

Sound probably by South West Digital.

Hi

I have a Loksound V4 8pin (see pic) which I'd like to get reblown

I've never seen a V4 select in the 8pin version so am I correct assuming it is a full fat? Or is there any way I can identify it as such?

Thanks in advance for any help

Apologies if this has already been covered, but which decoder is in the 37275 model?

I have bought one which if it is a select, its not a problem, it can replace one of my v3.5s with appropriate speaker upgrade.

But if it is a v5, I know I can reblow it to something better.

Apologies I looled through the thread but couldn't see this model listed.

Cheers

Chris
