Way hey - a Baltic tank. Think I might have had a ride behind one of them in Germany 2010 during their 175 celebrations.

Also had a jolly good tidy up in the shed, so it's not so depressing to walk into/spend time in.

Trouble is, you'll not be able to find anything now you've tidied up

Tidying up, ready for the next bout of track laying.  I've given up with UK suppliers and found one in Germany who had what I wanted in stock.

I also bought an airbrush for weathering and such.  Tried it out on some track, plus fiddling about with ballast.  Hateful job but probably worth it.

And finally, phwoar... look at the detail on that

It won't see any use until I can persuade someone to hardwire a decoder into it.  I have a much more suitable tanker arriving shortly anyway. DCC ready too.

Progress is slow as I only seem to be able to focus for short periods of time.  I blame the doctoral thesis.  I have until next April to complete a full draft and I am already five weeks behind with the methodology chapter.

Hi Dr G-F,

A wonderful acquisition, I really love the BR65 (and the 65.10 but that’s another story).

If you fancy having a go at digitising it yourself, here is a nice set of visual instructions;

http://www.hp-pfeiffer.de/digi_umbau1/dcc/br65_flm_neu_h0/br65_flm_neu_h0.html

He even includes a link to the various isolated motor faceplates that can make the job even easier.

I cheated and bought a DCC ready model, quite a few years ago now but having converted a few Fleischmann locos, I’d say “go for it “ as you’ll obtain great satisfaction from being a diyer.

Cheers,

 John.

PS good luck with the thesis by the way.

Glacial progress... turns out the Germans didn't have what I wanted in stock, but an Italian did.  So a small purchase of Rocoline W10s later...

The trackbed is fixed, but the track needs fettling before glueing.  Amusingly, this whole layout is run by just two wires.

It's a pretty close match to the prototype at Hirschberg.  1750710233_HirschbergBahnhofMap.JPG.ee346f05574da8844c8a1ee4d32a53b9.JPG

A bit more progress... I've deviated from the prototype only by restoring the second track into the lokschuppen, but other than that...

Everything's just plonked at the moment, while I mull over scenics.

>edit<  forgot to add pics of some suitable DR motive power.

I need to install the handrails and change the couplers before it's ready for service.  Roughly equivalent to a Hymek...

I have enough stock now to run either DR or DB, steam, diesel and electric.  (once I've installed the OHE)

Lovely stuff! Ignorant of DE practise, what are the three separate headshunts for?

The middle one is the headshunt... the other two are freight sidings.

Anyway, I've changed it all around since then.

Although it was an accurate rendition of Hirschberg, I couldn't get the lokschuppen to fit properly and the centre of the scene was dominated too much by the buildings.  I've rearranged things to try and get the buildings into a more harmonious arrangement.  Plus I.get to use a double slip.  Always a plus in my book.
