Just seen both GBRf 50’s in Eastleigh works, it suits them very well. They also had a GBRf 47 for company, I like the lack of yellow on the cab side. Will try and get a photo before the day is out.

Always good to see a class 50 out on the main line earning its keep.

50008 Thunderer makes light work of a wagon move, 6Z50 10.22 Knottingley to Carlisle New Yard, passing through Featherstone on 30th April 2019.

You have to wonder how much it's actually earning from that job - the loco went light engine from Leicester the previous day, and then took one wagon from Knottingley-Carlisle.

What's the wagon loaded with? Gold bullion hidden under sawdust?

Not sure how convenient this is to you 'Owd Bob', but it should be working back later today as this;

I must admit I was a little surprised when it rounded the corner with 'just one on the hook'.

I guess the rather hopeful answer is that it's at least enough to cover the cost of the job.

Apparently the wagon was dropped off at British Gypsum, Newbiggin.

Cheers,

Mick

It was a driver training/handling run for DBC crews as they have at least one charter using this loco this summer. The wagon was one which had been previously been crippled and needed moving to Newbiggin for offloading.

Interesting, I thought that looked like an RTC liveried 31 at the rear. I see from the gala website it is 31163 (renumbered as 97205). Apologies for the OT.

It was.  Photo of the 31 here.

I scanned this photo about 2-3 weeks ago for a Facebook site and promptly forgot to post it on here.

The Class 50 Terminator Phoenixed 1Z50 London Paddington to Penzance passing the  Dawlish sea wall on a gloomy Saturday 23rd March.  With planned changes afoot for the Dawlish sea wall I thought I would go against my normal kind of shots and get a train in the landscape.
