Posted more in hope than expectation-can anyone identify this NSE liveried class 50, at New St in 1987? I'm not sure of the date, but believe it to be around May-July.

Now there were 13 painted in that livery, some had long names or plaques fitted, and that nameplate looks fairly short.

Shortest name was 50023 Howe, slightly longer were 50029 Renown and 50034 Furious.

I'd go for 50023...

It's not 50023 as the white strip and orange strip above the windows overlap the headcode box.

Therefore it must be either 50002, 50037, 50044 or 50048. The first three all had crests so it must be 50048.

This photo even shows a clean patch on the grey lower body which matches the black and white photo:

So did we establish when the multiple working receptacles changed from black/green to orange?

Love that one of 50039 up at Dawlish.  Cracking.  Oozing atmosphere.  Implacable had only been named on 20th June 78.

That's how I like my 50s - domino headcodes and named, pre refurb.

Lovely.

Thank you Rugd1022
