Nice to see a 2D BFK modelled, don't recall ever seeing one done before.

Martyn.

Seen one in a magazine before, and I am now on my second.

W5879 and W14159 share a donor

Also the second WR set has sprung a problem, I will have to change the set.

The problem is W14159.

Just checked a large pile of spotting documentation.

FOUR 2D BFKs over a large number of sets

W14140 W14147 operating together

W14152 W14159 operating together

W14159 on own

W14159 with W14077

EVERY twin BFK set I have seen contains 1 or 2 of the above. Only ONE does not have W14159

I recently purchased some Hornby 2F TSOs to go with some Airfix 2D FOs, and was discouraged to see that the body profile is different, the 2Fs have a pronounced tumblehome.  Anyone seen this?  How will it look: they will be separated by an RB (R) of course.

John

They are all different.

Lima are a good profile but slightly tall on the sides.

Airfix are a good size but the sides do not turn under enough.

Newer models not so sure on.

Best profile is the very old Triang Hornby Mark 2.

2D FOs were not common in working with anything but other 2D, 2D FKs were more common user.

But noone does the full set of DEF so no matter what you do modifying is essential, so I use Airfix simply due to 1) Reasonable accurate, 2) Have around 20, 3) Not that expensive. 4) Need a repaint anyway.

Just painted 16 corridor connectors, all in satin black as it was handy.

Will paint the 2 end ones in fawn and red.

All were cut down, now using my special Airfix corridor connection cutting down jig.

Wil be fitting the joiners for the cams soon, then I can see what the set (so far) looks like.

Decided I am going to modify that rake and use W14152, and decide that W14159 is up for repair instead.

Then I can shuffle them around and produce yet another set.

Yes 4 separate sets with W14159, 2 with W14077, 1 with W14152 and 1 not paired.

Will need to invade Brian at Shawplan as phone unanswered and emails not acted on since just before Christmas

Got a roughly £200 order for him for enough bits to finish 2 whole aircon sets and do half of the 3rd.

Brian was at ModelRail Scotland yesterday and will be there over the rest of the weekend.

I spoke to him about the frames for the Mk2b and c.  My interest is for a couple of Lima Mk2bs or cs.  They are available but I'm  struggling to understand what to do about the glazing to go behind them.  There is no point in fitting the frames if the original Lima glazing is still set back.  I did ask if he had any plans to do a glazing unit to fit behind the frames as per the current glazing for the Mk3s etc.  I got the impression it may be a possibility but not anytime soon.

I think I may have to visit him.

I have been metioning the glazing since  my first 2C.

If I had a laser cutter I would design and make my own 2_ABC glazing.

Hand cut a couple for the first BSO but I currently have 6 with another awaiting frames.

As to buying at shows, went to Warley and after my visit no more Airfix glazing or frames left. And there was no 2_ABC frames at all, I got there not long after opening and the first stall I went to.

Not really prepared to wait until next Warley as I am now scared I will be in the same position when I hit 60 as I started detailing these sets when I was 50.

OK As to Brian, I will write to him AGAIN

Phone always rings out.

Since my 2ABCDEFs are stalled (2C BSO, 2A & 2D BFK 2DEF TSOs pls some Limas) working on my Mark 1s

2x TSO and 1x BSK from Triang, currently working on lining and running numbers, the loco chosen also needs some detailing work, not shiny enough plus tender axle boxes need painting.

HMRS lining is difficult to use!

Will put some pictures up later.

Toilet side of 2C BSO W9461 is now window framed, waiting for the varnish to dry.

W3415, E5648, E5637 are in blue grey and just need some grey touchup

E5730 is grey with a little blue as I forgot to mask one side so stopped spraying.

E5660 is currently having its frames hacked off ready for the big filing session and 28 holes.

Hope to prime W9461 & E5660 near end of next week and if dry will grey them next weekend.

After this will be working on W14077 and W14152. Will do both at same time, considering replacing W14077s B4s with Airfix.

Making a mould of a Lima 2F fan.
