Well Warley.

I ended up splurging on a chassis for my Airfix 76xxx and all the aftermarket bits for PWM650, kit to come later. Michael Edge and Tony Wright cost me a lot!

Bought a B4 FO in bits for my WR 2B C set.

FKs need a 2B (YES) for the MR set, currently stripping one down. And perversly a late windowed 2C for the WR set, I JUST have enough windows to do the 2C toilets with enough over for ! more BSO.

Shawplan were out of 2ZABC frames, I need 3 at the moment, Hornby 2A TSO, Lima 2B FK, Lima 2C FK.

Battery boxes on Mark 2 coaches.

Limas look pretty shoddy at first so I compared them to the Replica moudlings, and guess what?

They are actually pretty good BUT are mounted in the wrong position and shaped wrong.

File them square and cut them off, one is pushed back slightly 1-2mm and the other the same but moved towards the centre by 4-5mm.

3 Chassis done so far, Instant improvement.

Now to my 2C BSO, do I fit Replica bogies or not?

Do you have any more photos or details about what you're doing with the Lima underframes please?

Only did them yesterday so not yet.

Keep a look out though

A few have Replica bogies, MJT buffers, moved battery boxes

Do the Replica bogies clip straight into the Lima underframes?

Also have you reduced the body side at all on the Lima coaches? I understand they need about 1mm removing from the bottom of the body? Does this affect how they clip into their own chassis?

No you need to modify the chassis, and I left the side height alone, would have been too much work to modify

And yes the air brake cylinders are the correct size, they are about 10" diameter and 9" long the beams they are attached to are 9" square, so everything is about 3mm

Has anyone used the vinyl frames from Southern Pride?

Thanks

Dave

Yes - I used them on a 4-REP based kit for one of my ultrasonic test units. UTU2 - 62482

With care, they are quite good.

Thanks, Mick. I  thought of trying them as the Shawplan ones don't seem to be available (for earlier mk2 coaches). Excellent workmanship in your REP coach, by the way.

Dave

Just pester him, they keep selling out.

Got 5 gas cabinets cast will show later

Now boxed up the 2 ER mark2Ds along with E1883, and E81491 now transfered. Just need to hack off the vacuum cylinders.

W3085 is also now in my current list, vacuum cylinders removed, will have shell vents fitted as well.

I have to use Replica FOs as the Comet sides are early Mark 1 with no frames.

I will be paint stripping a Lima 47 this holiday as I need it to be 47549, it was bought cheap off Ebay and looks like it ramraided Shawplan

Now this picture amuses me, pity 549 is in IC and 513 in large logo

https://www.flickr.com/photos/47362745@N07/5531616033

Oh and 513 which I modelled in 1983 could do with some etched brass on it, well it will be towing Lima / EE 2Bs and Replica FOs as SOs, maybe it should have a model Martin in W3085 as unbelivably I remember travelling in that set.

And yes I am building a huge list of part completed stock as I need to wait for warm weather to spray them

3 Jouef Mark 3a FOs have arrived, one needs a gangway.

What are the recommended detailing parts and tasks for these?

One will become a TSO to go with my orignal TSO

Just then need to decide a set, got Lima 87 flushglaze ready, will get  a pantograph off JE. Then buffet, will probably have a Bachmann BG

No pictures but more modelling carried out.

47 is now soaking in modelstrip, paint job was nice but one side had yellowing varnish and the other green poking through

Both 2E are being slightly reprofiled as I did to my first 3 detailed 2Ds, some drilling required, refixed joints seem fine, car body filler was a mistake.

I seem to be missing a TSO I bought 8 but can only find 7 and only 2 are 2E not 4.

2 more 2D TSOs will be joining the E1883 set, the rest not sure, may 2E them, or try to find a set with E1106, seen 2Ds next to it but no numbers. E1106 is back burner and may get sold instead.

The way it is going spring will see 6 coaches ready for B&G

Two air braked Mark 1s, quite a few more to do

RMB

Surprising what you can do with an old model.

post-14686-0-61138500-1453568527_thumb.jpg

FO

May chop off the water fill pipes and replace with wire.

OK Got a big pile to work on still

But trying to find if anyone makes the following parts.

1) The door bumpers fitted to 2BCD stock, I am trying to use plastic strip, but etched brass would be ideal.

2) The vents on the side 2DEF, the big ones are slightly damaged on a pair of 2E TSOs.

3) Door vents 2DEF, I can make some if required, couple damaged on my 2E TSOs

My 2E TSOs are a mess, so spraying with filler primer to level them out and fill the gaps. They were originally converted 25 years ago and had fallen apart.

Making the door bumpers out of strip not too bad.

Current tasks today are

1) Sticking one side of frames on a 2E TSO

2) Putting tiny bits of filler in the corner of the windows on the other 2E, Shawplan frames a tiny bit smaller than Airfix

3) Filing the windows bigger on my 2C FK

4) scraping off more paint from the to be 47549

2E TSOs primed, but look tatty, will need to sand and spray again.

Got 99% of the paint off 47549, and removed all handrail wire, will refit nose ones for painting, no more body mods required, was orignally a Lima in 2 tone green with a modern style name plate.

You could see the green through the blue on it.

The headcode is bothering me, search for images of 47549 loco and look at blue ones with no headlamp, headcode is yellow with white circles surrounded by black. Any ideas how to do those?

If dry will prime the 47 tomorrow ready for the mass spray in the spring
