First 3 vehicles of one of my WR aircon sets, I may do two

2D BFK, early 2E TSO, later 2E TSO, will have a 2D FK, a couple more 2E TSOs and whatever buffets are suitable (Mainline RBR? or another RU conversion)

post-14686-0-04667100-1458908475_thumb.jpg

This will of course be pulled by one of my 50s, a second set would as well.

My Midland region set for NW SW services, Peak pulled on the WR and 86 pulled on the WCML

In the works after the WR 2C FK will be a 2B FK (yes a few were MR),and Replica or Bachmann BG

I have a Mainline 45 which will become 45 147, may even use my 86 eventually.

Pretty sure I rode the 47 and a 45 set same day to from New Street

Found my 45.

Well my spare one, scraped off some tatty paint, and just sliced off buffer beams.

Ends will be nearly smooth as 45147 had little detail.

Craftsman detailing kit ordered, want to replace the fan sometime.

Bought around 30 years ago for £7.50 new, the other I bought at the same time became 46026

3 Peaks is enough, sticking with my Mainline models.

The other two will be on Mark 1s

Martin,

I have just started following your posts and the Mark2 rebuilds you have been doing are very nice, with lots of real-time photos.  My first and only cut and shut was to a Tri-ang Hornby Mk BSK when I was a teenager (in 1969) and made it into a BCK.  I still have it!

I am planning on adapting an Airfix Mk 2D BSO and FO into a BFK.  This seems like a very simple job, I think you have done it right?  A couple of questions:  Do you use a jig to make sure the cuts are vertical?  Do you use any backing when you join the bits?  What filler do you use?

Thanks in advance.

John Fitton

As I removed the sides from the roof, just a set square.

I useds normal plastic glue, a strip of plastic card at top and near bottom allowing room for chassis. Revell filler which is solvent based so sticks well, but I needed very little

called Brian a few times over the last few weeks.

Where are my frames?

3 coaches in limbo at the moment.

Anyway 45147, which is still paint stripped. now sport a pair of these.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191864978637

Pretty good, a little brittle, but need to drill for a couplng loop, then I will paint and show on the forum.

It is interesting to note with the huge price rises on old models and the appearance of new detailing parts, the resurgence of older models being done up.

The window frames I am putting on Lima stock are designed for Hornby and Bachmann stuff. but they work well on Lima if you put the work in.

But how else can I get a set of 2B 2C unless I either bash older Bachmann or Lima models?

Ermine Models etched sides?

On Hornby 2E

Still missing but luckily next two are 2B FK and 2C FK, 4 spare frames.

Managed to glaze the 2C BSO, just doing the vents now.

Then find the chopped down Airfix BSO insides.

2C TSO is also glazing nicely, but every mark shows, hopefully Klear will help.

For my first 3 sets I need to buy now.

1 B4 BG as a NEA

4 sets of Shawplan EE 2-2C frames

A few detailing parts for a Mainline Peak

A few detailing part for a Hornby 47

Will be stretching set 1 to 6 vehicles.

Set 4 still not sure of consist, nor set 5, set 6 (WCML) is in collect mode

Sets 7 and 8 are in research mode

Most of these sets would have run on the Lickey route and be seen in early 1980s

The clock is counting, I have 14 years left before I retire

Challenge is to finish the first 3 this year and get 4 and 5 partly done as well.

A reminder

Set 1 ER aircon set with 47 and Bar (4 complete, 2 to do)

Set 2 MR NWSW set with a Peak, mainly 2C (1 complete, 1 90%,1 80%, 2 50%, 1 to buy)

Set 3 WR SW-BNS set with 47 "Severn" mainly 2B (1 nearly done, 2 90%, 1 80%, 1 20%, 1 to start)

Set 4 WR aircon set mix of 2D E F with RU and 50

Set 5 WR aircon set mix of 2D E F with undecided buffet and 50

4 & 5 have 2 x 2E TSO and 1 x 2d BFK so far, with another BFK to do and a pool of 1 2E TSO and another 3 2D TSOs to convert, a few FOs and a couple of BSOs all Airfix

Newly mentioned

Set 6 MR set with 87, most likely Joeff 3a with possibly Lima 2F to bulk it out

Set 7 NESW Mark 1 set for another Peak (will be easy mainly Bachman)

Set 8 Not sure but Mk 1 (mainly Lima)

Set 9 N(E or W) SW 2 / 2a set

Set 10 inter regional Mk 1 set for 31

Set 11 Newspaper & parcels train with Siphon G and BSK, and a few other bits

Freight is collecting well

Got the following, most in almost ready to go condition

Enough parcels for 2 sets, Currently 3 GUV, 1 CCT, 2 BG, 2 Siphon G, 1 ex LMS Van, around 5 ex SR vans, a few others

A) Mineral wagons (MCV MSV want MDV)

B) Cement (CPV & PCV)

C) TIpplers (MSV)

D) VDA set

E& F) General VB sets with OWV, VEV, VWV, SPV, STV ect

G) China Clay set

Acetate 0.09mm

Hi have you seen these?

http://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/bulleid-door-furniture-19.html

mk2 frames, I guess you would want them all on the same coach as they might be slightly different from shawplan.

Has anyone else tried them?

I have some, they are rubbish, measured them against the model, thought no and hassled Brian more.

Will be putting them on Ebay for a freelance modeller

Well I now have a little bit of a problem

I want to flush glaze a 47, and a Peak and later on another 47 and a 50.

The 47s are Lima and Hornby, there is something a little odd about the Lima, does not seem to match detailed photos around the cab.

Peak, Mainline. nothing

50 Lima, not found anything but grills and windscreen frames. Also 17 runs like a pig, so need to rerebuild the motor bogie after its stretch.

Looks like home made galzing.

Oh and do a search on 45147 and look at those marker lamps, how do I do those?

Update, 3mm brass tube just through the nose for the headlamp surrounds with 2mm clear rod inside.

BUT

Cannot find my mini drills.

Anyway been tidying our bedroom and found my Heljan 47, Dapol 22, Triang Hornby A3, and an abandoned model of a GWR inspection saloon.

Abandoned about 28 years ago due to rubbish paint job, poor door handles (my fault) and I have lost as broken 2 steps.

Anyway body shell is being stripped back for a spray (note not respray as it was brush painted.

Is and will still be DW80975 the Bristol inspection saloon.

Will park it with my Mainline 03, as when I last saw it in Bristol they were next to eaxh other.

Bristol is a popular depot for RTR companies Triang, Airfix, Mainline have all done locos OOB suitable

I also found hundreds of my slides and pulled out of one box a ETH Peak with mark 2s, got VERY excited, but almost certainly not the set I am modelling

The Eastern region 47 now needs glazing.

Been lining and transfering the shells of the 2C FK, 1 FO today, also converting another Lima chassis to take Replica B4s

Now using Really Useful 10l boxes, 1 set in each back filled with odd vehicles.

3 DMUs in another B430, B435, B465.

Also will be checking my masters for a few parts.

Airfix based vents for 2C

Lima based bogie for the 119

Also trying to dismantle a Dapol crane to turn it into the Newland crane

OK started again with the crane, will get pictures up later.

Trying to finish off a DC Kits 101 DMCL TBSL DMCL

Also trying to get the sides correct height on E1106 as the window side lost all of the original top.

Still collecting parts for the 119 DMU.

Lima Siphon is also being NNVed, now this would be worth having an etched brass kit of.

Been busy this year though with DIY and car repairs.
