I'm so pleased that you are happy with "County of Merioneth" and thanks for letting me have a drive of it!

Great to be amongst some classy layouts at Wigan.  Looks of really good conversations with the public and old friends to make the weekend speed by. The layout developed an intermittent short on the right side, suspect the seep motors with the polarity switch to the frogs playing up, first time in 20+ outings that we had such a set back. That caused sound locos to keep re-booting , so a job for later in the year.

First outing for  7th 8th March 2020  at Royal Leamington Spa College for the LWMRS 2 day  show. Great to see Vale of Oxbury in amongst 6 N gauge layouts.

Some new steam stock to run, 3MT and a Sound fitted 2MT and for the first time we will have 2 running sessions for 70’s Banger Blue to make a change to usual transition era. Hopefully you will indulge us! Now which multiple unit is your favourite?

Stop by to say hello to myself ( Carl ) and the faithful motley crew Nick , Mike & Neil.

Fantastic news. We have not seen the layout since I think the 2mm show at the exhibition centre in Warwickshire. It was inspirational then and I am sure we will be wowed again this week end

Leamington  show  saw the layout well received, a few niggles with dry joints in fiddle yard that we finally resolved Sunday morning and  some locos not behaving ; probably should have expecting the issues as the last show was 4 months ago. It was the 20th show since it first appeared in 2013 on the exhibition circuit and to freshen things up we had a banger blue running session which was well received. Big thank again to my trusted operators, Nick Mike and Neil.

A few favourite photos of the 70’s session and the more normal 1960’s.

The layout looks really nice, Carl, and the blue diesels look at home as well!

And, if I may say so, is praise from the very highest level of blue diesels in WR N gauge modelling :)

I have been looking through your thread at various times and finally hit the follow button. This is N gauge as it should be.

Thank you for the photos and sharing your progress.

Great to see Vale of Oxbury in Hornby Magazine's list of all-time great layouts. A well-deserved accolade. I'm new to modelling but the Vale was my inspiration to get started, having seen it a few times now at exhibitions. It's a thing of beauty, looking forward to seeing it again (hopefully) in the not-too-distant future. This thread has been a source of reference as I plan my own layout, keep up the great work, Carl.

Well it’s been a long wait to an Exhibition. We are at TINGs Leamington this weekend 10 & 11th September. Stop by to say hello.

I have decided to offer the layout for sale ; time to focus on a new N gauge layout sadly I do not have room for both.

The passengers long wait for the next train will soon be over.!

Great to catch up with so many people at TINGs. The layout on its final appearance  ran  really well and we were grateful for so many positive comments.

It was a real surprise to be asked by Sam from Sonic to run his new Large Prairie on the layout. It ran as beautiful as its looks and will set the bar very high for all future N gauge steam locos. It was a pleasure to spend time chatting to Sam who was really interested in all aspects of the layout.

Our hobby is just as much about the peoples as the trains. I am so grateful for the help over the last 10 years from Nick, Mike & Neil to operate the layout. You are the stars of the show.

Vale of Oxbury went to  a very good new home at the end of 2022.  It may at some point in future re-appear as an exhibition layout in the future but for now its a home based layout.

Time to share progress on my new project; fast forward slighly to the 1970's!!

Carl just a small update on Vale of Oxbury for you.

Added 2 extra roads in the main fiddle yard and 2 on the branch FY.

All fiddle yard points now are control by servos and are connected to a Arduino servo controller.

Points and signals on the scenic side are still solenoid motors but now are connected to a Train Tech point controller.

I now can either operated the points through handsets or the computer software..

I now have also added route selection for the main fiddle yard through the computer software.

The branch line  operation is now totally hands free and runs through the computer software as well.

These to do

New mimic board  (as I still sometimes like to operated a point from a switch) which will be DCC Controlled.

Add some lighting to the buildings.

Add some more details to the dairy.

I think this is as far as I want to go as this is a excellent modelled.

I have to add this runs so well and I could not be happier that I brought this from you last year.
