Deltic Class 55 Photos

Recommended Posts

Top photo maybe Bo'ness? I can see an LQ signal.

I was pretty sure it wasn´t Bo´ness as I´ve never been there but thanks all the same PinzaC55.

Nah, it's Wansford on the Nene Valley.

She's on the same line as the Alco, BR standard 'City of Peterborough' behind.

C6T.

 Thanks Classix T.

To tell you the truth, I didn´t know I´d ever visited Wansford either except for passing on the A1!

I did wonder what sort of loco 55016 was stabled next to.

Thanks.

Three photos from my home town of Hatfield. All have that Kodak 126 mistyness unfortunately but great memories all the same.

Tulyar on the 14:03 out of KX IIRC passing under the Red Lion bridge on 8th December 1981.

The Addo building was still standing at this time.

Photo taken from the western side of the Wrestlers bridge that collapsed some 16 years prior.

55021 leans into the curve just to the south of the station heading northwards on 5th December 1981. I believe there is now a small memorial close to this spot for the victims of the accident that was to occur there some 20 years later.

An unidentified Deltic roars through the station northbound sometime between 80-82

I keep kicking myself, the few years I worked on them at KX and couldn't be bothered taking the camera to work!! Never mind, I keep looking out for a pic of me on one of them!

What years were you at the Cross? I was there 1983-89.

I guess some people may be unaware of the Trainz rail simulator so here is a little lineup of Deltics at Durham station.

Some from a dreary looking Sunday at KX. 15th November 1981.

Alycidon stabled in the eastern sidings with a class 46. Pinza is just visible behind the Peak.

Here is a fuller side on shot of both 55009 and 007 taken from half way up the ramp to York Way.

Pinza can be seen backing onto the stock for the 14:03 departure. (I did say it was a dreary day).

And 3 more of her sat awaiting departure.

4 days to go until the end (or so we thought!) 29-12-81.

Another dull and dreary day and a trip on the Deltic Executive railtour.

Looks pretty nippy out there.

Alycidon at Leeds.

Ace photo of 55004 with the sadly armless "Gallows" signal in front of it!

Here's 55002 working 1A32 at Barnetby on 18.9.81

Thanks James.

The only place these photos have been aired is on my photo thread on the BR Blue forum until now.

It was a cold day from start to finish IIRC.

Another railtour photo today.

The Deltic Queen of Scots.

A blast up to Edinburgh and back from KX on the 7th November 1981.

Tulyar was in charge on the outward trip, seen here at a photo stop at Grantham.

post-7244-0-18734100-1403526430.jpg

55002 brought us back down to London. (No photos of her though)
