My apologies for the re-ordering of a couple of images in this morning's (Dec 25th)  quiz photos - I tried to correct a missing file number and managed to make it worse.

Sorry.

Today's quiz photos shouls appear below, in the correct order with file numbers to identify them.

As yesterday you are invited to work out the location, perhaps an approximate date and what the trains (if any) are doing there.

Once again in a couple of days I'll tell you the locations.

A knowledge of Southern headcodes may help with this one.

I've seen pictures of EM1s on test on the GE with only one pan up

The following explanation is from page 54 of John Glover's book "Eastern Electric":-

The original intention was that the rearmost one [pantograph] only would normally be used at any one time.  However, both pantogaphs were later used on a regular basis, due to the effects of icing on current collection and the general filth on the overhead contact wires caused by the presence of steam traction.  This change ensured sparkless operation.

Sorry, I've no idea where any of them are but I'm sure I've modelled that train in C5434 lots of times!

Does that count?

Kev.

(Lovely pics of what trains should be...)

Merry Christmas Dave, Here's a J27 I havn't uploaded yet from the late Fleetwood Shawe negatives that Dave Dunn of the ARPT has given me permission to use.

Hope the weather is a bit better where you are as its been hoying it down here for the last 24 hours and we are coming through to Blyth (well Seaton Sluice!) this afternoon to see Annie's Mam.

UPDATE: As Haltwhistle is now cut off by Floods on the A69 we won't be venturing out today!!

Merry Christmas Dave ;)

C771 is Bromsgrove looking up the bank towards Vigo and Blackwell. Last time I saw that view I was in notch 8 with a ballast job hoping to get to the top at 20mph!

Not with a Wizzo then Nidge?

Seasons greetings!

Today's quiz photos should be below, once again you have to work out where they were taken.

They are all easy - if you happen to know them.
