Good afternoon, David. I like the Glasgow Central, in the early ‘90’s photo’s. They are all of interest, and in C15624, with 3030357, on a Cathcart Circle via Queens Park service on the 2nd March, 1991, you can see how the side window change made them look so different from first introduction with the wrap around side windows.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Good afternoon, David. I like the Swayfield photo’s which are all of interest, and most nostalgic. In the first photo’, of Deltic, 55012, on a down express, in May, 1978, you have a great three quarter view of the train. The following photo’,  J09992, of 156421 on a Barrow to Cambridge service in June, 1989, doesn’t have the same kind of appeal,  but is a good record of how things changed eleven years after the photo’ of 55012.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Barrow to Cambridge service, I think does not exist anymore. Shortest journey time I can find is around 9hrs with 3 changes.

Not one which would have much end-to-end custom, I think...

The wagons behind the loco in J7057 are interesting; the first two look at first glance like Dogfish but they don’t have any unloading chutes underneath. The third one is of a type I’m not familiar with and the fourth looks like a Dogfish with raised sides.

first and second not Dogfish or Catfish, might be Herring*; third possibly Trout?; fourth Dogfish with raised sides (slag ballast modification?)

*edit after mike hughes' comment: Mackerel

I was typing the same when your post appeared. Certainly seem to match the photos on PB's site.

Think first 2 are Mackerel. Herring had taller sides by about 6” I believe. 3 definitely a Trout as these had 3 control wheels whilst Herring/Mackerel only had 1 centre.

Good evening, David. I like the Morpeth photo’s which are all,of interest. That first one, apart from the wagons, is a great, crystal clear shot of 37082 on that up ballast train in July, 1980.  It’s in a typically weathered condition.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Good afternoon, David. I like the latest Bottesford photo’s which are full of interest. It’s good to see more of the track relaying work in J8082, and J8104 from October and November, 1983. In J8082, It’s interesting to see so many workers helping to make sure the new track panel is being lowered into the correct place. It’s always interesting that such panels can move around to a degree when being craned into position. Also they appear not to be wearing hard hats, etc., It would not be legal today, of course.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Good evening, David. I like the County Durham photo’s which are all of interest. In particular it’s good to see those of the Weardale Railway. All show excellent aspects of the line, which I hope can reopen after the virus restrictions are finally lifted in the future. That’s a really good view of Frosterley station on the 4th December, 1993, in C19203. Such lovely buildings, and surroundings.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Good morning, David. I like the GCR at Loughborough and Quorn photo’s which are all of historical interest. In J7585, at Loughborough Central, with LNER B1,1306, in September, 1981, you have a beautiful three quarter portrait of the engine, and it’s interesting to see, in C11985, again at Loughborough Central, the class 127 DMU alongside that class 55, number 9019, on the 10th June, 1989. They make quite a contrast of design and styles.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Good afternoon, David. I like the photo’s of the ECML between Darlington and Newcastle which are full of interest. In the last one, at Low Fell, with 43092, leading a HST set, on an express on the 28th May, 1988, it looks like the horn grill has gone missing. Either that or the way it’s been painted in warning yellow has rendered it invisible.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Good afternoon, David. I like the latest Radcliffe on Trent photo’s, all of which are of interest. In J5648, of a class 114 DMU on a Skegness to Nottingham service, in March, 1977, you have a great view of a train in the landscape.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.
