Good morning, David. I like the excellent East Anglian Railway Museum photo’s, which show how much varied stock they had back then. In the last photo’, of RSH, CEGB, East Midlands Division, loco’ on the 13th May, 1979, apart from the locomotive, you can see part of a Gresley teak carriage. I can’t recall which one, but I’ll be looking it up in one of the books I have a bit later on.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Good evening, David. I like the Trent Lane Crossing photo’s which are all of interest. In C14266, you have captured a view of the large set numbered 150, 150150, on a Nottingham to Matlock service, on the 9th April, 1990.  I know Bachmann made a model of it a few years ago - albeit with metal cab window surrounds.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

E16631E is a 6-bay BTO (Diag. 196, built 1938). It is now on the Epping & Ongar Railway, still awaiting preservation. It really needs this, as it is the last of its type still extant. They refer to it by its original LNER number, 43556.

Good afternoon, David. I like the Newcastle Central photo’s, all of which are of interest. In J9237, it’s great seeing NSE liveried 47, 47582, on a light engine movement, in September, 1987. I certainly don’t recall that many NSE 47’s in the NE of England.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

J9628 just reminds me of what a horrible mess they made of the original Railfreight livery when they add that random red stripe to the lower bodyside. Not that it was ever a particularly attractive livery, anyway.

Good afternoon, David. I like the Scottish photo’s which are all of interest. In C14014, at Waterside, on the 18th February, 1990, you have a most stark, down to earth view. Not a place to go to if you wish to see beauty. Just a place of grim Scottish existence and women washing doorsteps on their knees.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

This morning's photos are only just over 41 years old, being taken in May 1979.

The location is Chappel and wakes Colne, at the East Anglian Railway Museum in the old goods yard there.

It is on the line from Marks Tey to Sudbury.

Excellent photos as always Dave, a couple of corrections to the captions in these though. J6456 Penn Green is a Robert Stephenson and Hawthorn and C4489 Jubilee is a WG Bagnall

Good afternoon, David. I like the Tyne and Wear Metro photo’s. All are of interest, and in C19269, at Tynemouth with a Metro on a St James to Pelaw service, on the 15th January, 1994, you have captured a lovely, tranquil scene. Thank you for posting it.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

I think that's the first time I've seen one of the old-style speed limit signs showing more than 100mph - just seems odd somehow, whereas if it was on a modern road-style sign I wouldn't have given it a second thought!

Good evening, David. I like the Floriston photo’s of which all are of interest. In C20231, with 37674 and 37696, on a train of  empty china clay slurry tank wagons, from Irvine to Burngullow, on the 31st May, 1995, the 37’s make a fine sight at the head of that train.

No, it was heading south.

Good afternoon, David. I like the latest Morpeth photo’s all of which are of interest. In J8566, 37193, on an up freight train, in May, 1986, looks a fine sight with it’s thick white cantrail stripe.

Looks like the gas pipes that were coated at Leith Docks before being sent south - can't remember the destination after all these years.
