RMweb Gold The Pilotman Posted December 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 22, 2020 In C11674 it’s interesting to see one of the few BGs that got Network SouthEast livery so far from home. I’ve seen one in the formation of a postal train before on the WCML in Scotland but didn’t know they’d got so far down the ECML too. I’m sure I have a photo with that very coach behind a class 50 in a rake of other NSE-liveried stock in the Thames Valley.
RMweb Premium Davexoc Posted December 22, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 22, 2020 I had to check that last photo, as weathering should never be overdone like that. So zooming in, and it still looks to be all over brown grot. But that SR bogie brake is actually blue according to my Platform 5 book, and a long way from the Hastings line it was built for. RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted December 23, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 23, 2020 (edited) First, Thanks for the Christmas wishes and lovely comments about the photos over the last few days. Hopefully the thread can continue for a while yet, but in the short term most of the photos will have been taken in Northumberland. I have to find time to caption some photos from other places! Today's photos are once again in Newcastle on Tyne, this time taken on 7th February 2013. That day I had to go to an appointment at the dental hospital to investigate a tooth which my dentst had been unable to extract. Then I had to go back in the afternoon for them to remove it. To fill in the time I took the photos. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 23, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 23, 2020 Good evening, David. I like the Newcastle on Tyne photo’s from the 7th February, 2013. All are of interest, and the last photo’ of a class 221 on a down service shows some good roof details for those who may wish to detail and weather the roofs of the Bachmann model. With warmest regards, Rob.
talisman56
C8650 - a nice picture of an SR 'Bogie-B' in the usual condition - all-over grot. In theory, the number should be S269S as it is a pre-nationalisation design, but as its lost the suffix I would surmise that the colour underneath is Rail Blue. A Merry Christmas to you and your family, and a happy 2021. Edited December 24, 2020 by talisman56 1 2
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted December 24, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 24, 2020 This year's photos for Christmas Eve are from Ulgham Lane crossing on the ECML in Northumberland. As I am writing this it is snowing outside though not settling. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 24, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 24, 2020 Good afternoon, David. I like the latest Ulgham Lane crossing photo’s which are all of interest. In the last photo’, with 56115 and 56114 on an up coal train from Butterwell, on the 19th February, 1991, that’s a large amount of exhaust (clag) coming from what appears to be the leading locomotive, 56115. I guess it’s the one doing most, if not all of the work. With warmest regards, Rob.

Or the one most in need of some engine maintenance. Or maybe even because it's just the one that always does that! Mind you a lot of 56s seem to have that blue clag, something in the characteristics of the engine. Some interesting trains there, unusual small loads if you don't have room for long trains 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted December 25, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2020 As some of you know I care for my Mum. On the way to her flat to cook Christmas Dinner I saw Father Christmas parking his car outside one of the flats. A very odd sight! Some seasonal photos now with snow. All of them were taken at Damdykes, south of Cramlington in Northumberland. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 25, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 25, 2020 Good evening, and Merry Christmas, David. I like the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway photo’s. All are of interest, and in the last photo’, at Oxenhope, with 8F, number 8431, in October, 1981, it can be seen that the second carriage is the sole surviving class 111 buffet car. I like the Damdykes photo’s and they are all of interest and very cold and wintry. In C15573, with a class 143 on a Morpeth to Newcastle service, on the 9th February, 1991, I hope the windscreen wipers were not adversely affected by the snow on them. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 26, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 26, 2020 Good evening, David. I like the Newcastle to Carlisle photo’s all of which are of interest. In the last photo’ at Stocksfield, with 156469, on a Hexham to Newcastle train, on the 26th August, 1992, you can see how it has an overhead electric warning sign on the gangway door window. I’m not sure how many units were so adorned, but I won’t add such a sign onto the Realtrack models I have until more information is forthcoming.
