Good evening, David. That’s a superb selection of photo’s of Swayfield from the 12th June, 2005. The first one of a GNER class 43 power car, leading an up HST, shows how good that the GNER livery suited those trains.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Good evening, David. That is a superb selection of photo’s of Annan, as it was on the 19th May, 2007. In DSC_1149, you have captured a most excellent portrait of First Engineering, DR73915. It’s a photo’ which may well be of help with someone making a model of it.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

C14038: two locos in the same livery in the same photo. An achievement.

And in C14534 it is a pity the red line and the edge of the white on the loco do not line up with those on the carriages. Surely not beyond the whit of man. If one did it on a model one would probably be criticised.

Market Overton. Fascinating as always. It is a great pity it didn't survive, though when it was in operation I never heard of it. But great photos nevertheless.

Good evening, David. That is a delightful selection of photo’s of the ironstone lines beyond the end of the High Dyke branch in that brief period of preservation. In C1634, at Market Overton, with Hunslet, ‘Primrose’, number 2, on the 1 in 27 bank, in May, 1974, what with the sharp curve as well as the steep incline and two very different carriages, you have a view that could almost be from a model railway.
The Carlisle photo’s have much of interest in them, and in C14038, of 86405, on the 18th February, 1990, you have captured a lovely portrait shot of that 86.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Good evening, David. That’s a delightful selection of photo’s of Ulgham Lane crossing. The last photo’ of 56126, on a down coal train, on the 28th November, 1992, is most atmospheric in the late November sun.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Interesting to see the BR loco painted over on 47319; and are those marks on 56134 where the cast loco was previously fixed? I assume that in each case the three digit number on the cab front was simply positioned where there was room.

And on the 91s they did manage to line up the red stripe with the carriages.

Good afternoon, David. That’s a most impressive set of photo’s of Morpeth. The first one of 47319, on the 11th April, 1988, is a well composed portrait of the locomotive.  The destination indicator on that cab end of 142016, working a Morpeth to Newcastle service on the 9th September, 1995, seems quite tall - something local to the depot?

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Good evening, David. That’s a splendid selection of photo’s of the ECML from Darlington to Newcastle. In C15943, at Tyne Yard, with 47291, on a down train of dolofines, on the 19th June, 1991, you have well captured how empty the yard was on that day. Just 47291’s train and another train in the foreground.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Looks like you captured a couple of rare beasts in Tyne yard, there appears to be a pair of PTA side tippers at the rear in C15943.

Link to their details in PB's wagon bible below.

I always thought it was good that thompsons maglime bought some ex channel tunnel wagons that were lettered TML!

Good evening, David. Those are an excellent selection of photo’s of Pilmoor. That first one of a class 40, D278, on a down passenger train on the up fast line, on the 20th August,1967, has the following carriages at the front.

First carriage is a Hawksworth BCK, then a Hawksworth SK, followed by a Stanier SK and a Stanier CK - possibly a Porthole example. Mk1’s follow on after those four.

With warmest regards,

I think the first two are GWR Hawksworths.

Somewhere in the thread is a colour photo of the same train taken by Dad which may show the coaches more clearly.

Edit.

Here is the photo in colour.

David

Didn't notice in the original b&w photo but there seems to be an unusually large number of "onlookers", even for wrong line working (even if they knew what that was), was there something special due to pass?
