RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 31, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 31, 2021 Good evening, David. That’s a very impressive selection of photo’s of Buston Barns on the ECML in Northumberland. In C15583, with 47373, on an up ICI train, on the 16th February, 1991, it will have been exceptionally cold that day, being in the middle of that cold and snowy month, and you’ve captured well the flurry of exhaust from the 47. With warmest regards, Rob.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 1, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 1, 2022 Happy New Year, David. I hope you have had a relaxing day. The photo’s of Morpeth are excellent, conveying so well the way the ECML was back when the photo’s were taken. In J9002, with a class 101 Metro Cammell DMU on a Berwick to Newcastle service in July, 1987, you can see, on the bufferbeam, below the cab of the leading car, a DTSL, that the vacuum pipes are arranged in the LMR fashion, with that on the secondman’s side being full height, and the one on the driver’s side just hanging from the bottom of the bufferbeam. I’m still unclear why the LMR opted for that way with the pipes, but I know they did. With warmest regards, Rob.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 2, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 2, 2022 Good evening, David. That’s a lovely selection of photo’s of the Yorkshire Dales Railway as it was on the 11th April, 1990, at Embsay. The first photo’ is an excellent portrait of the station building, and the second photo’ is a great overall shot of the line and track layout from the bridge. In the foreground you can see the lovely three arm ground signal. The photo’s of Lucker, in April 1993, in Northumberland, on the ECML, are an excellent set, and in C18410, with a DVT leading an up express on the 7th April, 1993, on the left, next to the cess, you can see an equipment cabinet on it’s side. Some work must have either been planned or just completed. With warmest regards, Rob.

seahorse
The pictures of Embsay prompted me to look it up on the NLS map site. I knew that a tramway left the sidings and curled round to a quarry in the hills to the right, but I have now discovered that it ran as far as Skipton Castle. There is always more to know!

RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted January 4, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 4, 2022 (edited) A few photos on the Blyth and Tyne today. We start with a couple of photos a few yards north of Blue Bell crossing at Shiremoor, on the closed section of the Blyth and Tyne which used to go southwards to Percy Main and beyond. The other photos are at South Newsham. Shiremoor Blue Bell crossing view south along Blyth and Tyne 16th Aug 95 C20461 This photo, and the next one, were taken standing on the bridge over what is now the Tyne and Wear Metro line west of Shiremoor station. The Blue Bell was a pub by the level crossing, where the red car is parked. Shiremoor Blue Bell crossing view north along Blyth and Tyne 16th Aug 95 C20460 This is the view looking north. In the distance you can see a rather yellow small tree. This is roughly where the line from Benton Quarry junction, which runs alongside the Metro as far as Backworth before curving to the north, joins the line heading north to Ashington etc. South Newsham 56132 coal containers up Feb 93 J13679 South Newsham 56112 up l e March 91 J11780 South Newsham 56135 down coal Aug 92 J13373 David Edited April 6, 2022 by DaveF
