Good evening, David. That is a most impressive set of photo’s of the ECML from between Swayfield and Grantham. In the first photo’, at Swayfield, with a 47, on an up service, in May, 1974, you can see the formation is a typical one of Mkl BG, two Mklld FO’s p, two Mkl catering cars, five Mklld TSO’s, and a Mklld BSO. The second photo’, which is indeed superb, has just one Mkll FO and a solitary Mkl RMB. Clearly different formations for different types of services.

Probably a midday semi-fast Leeds working, they often had only one first and an RMB rather than full restaurant.

J3688 - 1E07 was the 1110 Edinburgh-King's Cross. As with the down 1300, more of a semi-fast than express per se and a favourite for 47-haulage.

 

And echoing other's comments, J4125 really is a gem of a photo.

 The last photo reminds me of my summer holidays in the fifties ,I always had the beano and the Dandy mum in her best and dads nod to being on holiday a sports jacket and no tie .Even on the beach the jacket only came off in really hot weather and as for taking your shirt off ,no way. Its amazing to look back and see how we have changed relatively quickly but it was a totaly different way of life then sometimes think it was okay.

Good evening, David. That’s a delightful selection of photo’s from beyond the end of the High Dyke branch, on the ex - British Steel lines in preservation days. In C1633, at Mill Lane crossing, with Hunslet Primrose, No 2, on the 27th June,1974,    you have a bucolic scene as the engine blasts up the hill, complete with no three or screw coupling on the front bufferbeam. 
The East Lincolnshire photo’s from the early 1950’s are full of period atmosphere, and interest, and in JVol3250, at Sutton on Sea, with a J6, 64276, on a Boston to Mablethorpe passenger train in about 1951, your Dad has captured a typical English steam train with ex GNR signals. It’s just waiting to be modelled by someone.

A fascinating study of East Lincolnshire, that just pre-dates me! Although relatively local, I never had the opportunity to explore any of the lines that were closed in 1970, being just fractionally too young to venture forth on my own or with a mate. I do, however, remember the last couple of months of King's Cross to Cleethorpes trains running that way, viewed most evenings but never sampled.  :(

Good evening, David. That’s a most delightful selection of photo’s of Morpeth from the 5th March, 2013. The first photo’ of East Coast class 43 power car, on an up express passenger train, shows a bit of a ‘ding’ in the front below the driver’s side of the windscreen.

It may be because the speed limit is 50mph because of the sharp curve at the south west end of the station where trains have come to grief in the past.

Good evening, David. That’s a most impressive set of Scottish photo’s which show how the industrial Mossend is so different to the scenery and mountains in the last three photo’s. Now, in the first photo’ at Mossend, with 26032, on an up light engine movement, on the 5th April, 1991, the 26 looks as if it was ready for a repaint going by the appearance of it.

The last photo’ is so atmospheric and shows Scotland at it’s best, and the train, at Borrobol Platform, with class 26, 5335, on a Wick and Thurso to Inverness service, in August, 1973, is dwarfed by the beautiful scenery.

That’s a fantastic set of photo’s from the north of Grantham, and in JVol4038, at Barkston, with A3, 60063, Isinglass, on an up express passenger train from Newcastle to London Kings Cross, in August, 1955, you can see how dirty the third carriage is which has totally changed the blood and custard livery. It most helpful for when it comes to weathering a model.

Are you sure that's blood & custard? It looks fairly teak to me, which might just have been possible at that date
