flapland
As others have said love the pictures but don't let us take us away from your home life uncessarily. Everyone will understand if you have to step back for a while. 4
35A
As others have said, David, photographs are not a priority. Thoughts are with you at the moment. Being in a not-dissimilar situation, with a single, very elderly parent, prone to periodic health issues, I can understand your concerns and wish your mum a speedy return to full health. Also, though, look after yourself - we're no spring chickens ourselves and it is all too easy to overdo it when caring for an infirm relative! 4
michaelp
Sorry to read your mum is not well David, please pass on my best wishes to her and I hope she has a speedy recovery. You take care of yourself. Michael 2
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 6, 2019 Dave, i hope things work out with your mum and wish her well. The last thing you need to thing about when family needs call is posting pictures on here for us lot - look after your mum first., 1
Waverley West
Just to add to what is said above, Dave, best wishes to your mum for a speedy recovery. I too know what it's like to have an elderly mum with health issues, so please just start posting again on this thread when you feel ready and able. You've already spoiled us with all the great pictures you've posted and brought many happy memories back. RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted June 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 6, 2019 Seconded, thirded, fourthed and however many you want. We all enjoy your photos and look forward to them (they've sort of become part of my daily routine) but you must prioritise your mum and come back to this when you have time and inclination. You'll be missed and your return looked forward to, but first things first! 1 4
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted June 6, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 6, 2019 Many thanks for the good wishes which I have passed on to Mum. She has been in the local Northumbria Hospital, which is the specialist A&E hospital for Northumberland and North Tyneside. It's the only hospital I've visited where afternoon tea is served in bone china cups and there is a choice of biscuits, cakes or scones. This afternoon she has been moved to the hospital in town, less than 5 minutes from where I live. So now for the photos, once again the ECML on Stoke Bank. Hopefully there will be no problems in continuing to post photos, I have several weeks in hand. RBAGE
Hello Dave, Do you have any photographs taken at or around Newton Hall Junction you would care to share. Around the 1960's would be nice. I have a specific modelling interest that might benefit. Best regards, Bob
RMweb Premium keefer Posted June 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 6, 2019 I can only echo the sentiments already made, Dave, and hope Mum is on the mend. As for having several week's worth of photos ready, we can always revisit the 5 year's worth you have already posted! (I often do this, just pick a random page and enjoy again)
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted June 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 6, 2019 Hi, Dave. I like the ECML photo’s on Stoke Bank. All so full of both interest and nostalgia. I particularly like J2807 of Little Bytham, with a class 47 on an up express in January, 1972. A classic non Deltic hauled express from 1972. Finally I hope your Mum is feeling a little better today. With warmest regards, Rob.

Neither Dad nor I ever got that far north then - we barely even reached Northallerton. Even though I've lived in Northumberland since 1980 it is a location which I've always been going to visit but never got around to. David
RMweb Gold The Pilotman Posted June 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 6, 2019 Some interesting colouring on the coach roofs in J2956. At first I thought it might be frost but then I saw the photo was taken in July, so obviously not.

In some there is bright sunshine, in others heavy cloud and wet looking trains. I think it must have been a showery day and the roofs are partly wet. RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted June 7, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 7, 2019 (edited) Around Cambois on the Blyth and Tyne in Northumberland this afternoon. The photos are from the 1980s and are in order from south to north. The first photo is taken looking across the the west staithes from the road leading to North Blyth. The power stations, long since demolished, are on the right. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted June 7, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 7, 2019 Hi, Dave. I like the Cambois photo’s on the Blyth and Tyne line. They are all very interesting, and it’s great to see that a record was being kept, photographically, of the line. They are of historical important today. I particularly like C9396, of 56116, on the 11th April, 1988. A great photo’ of the 56 hauled train. With warmest regards, Rob.

Clagsniffer
I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve only just discovered this thread! I’ve spent a few pleasurable hours reading through it all looking at your excellent pictures. I grew up in Blyth, my family still live there, so the Cambois photos and south newsham photos are of particular interest. There’s something quite pleasing about looking at a photo and being able to say “I know exactly where that is” without reading the description. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to post them all, I look forward to seeing more!
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted June 8, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 8, 2019 We stay in Northumberland today to see some trains on the ECML at Acklington (where the station is still open) and Buston Barns. Steamysandy
Hi Dave Firstly my best wishes to you and your mum I know I live north of Berwick but I think the shot of 45104 is a real rarity because 45s were never common in these parts ( especially one with a nameplate that size!). The Cartics would be bound for Bathgate. Kind regards

Kind regards The use of 45's on pway trains out of Tyne Yard with Tyne crews would not be unknown as their area was north as far as the regional boundary !

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted June 8, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 8, 2019 Hi, Dave. I hope your Mum is feeling a bit better today. Now, I like the photo’s of Acklington and Buston Barns. They are all full of interest and nostalgia. In the last photo’ at Buston Barns, with 45104 on a down permanent way train on the 24th October, 1987, I can see what appears to be a flap below the main bodyside grill. It’s something I have not noticed before, well certainly not opened up like that. With warmest regards, Rob.
