The 70 has it decals applied. Spot of Matt varnish and then a little more weathering and she’s a good un.
I have gone for 70817 as it is just having the decals applied at Eastleigh as we speak and it is a rather dirty specimen.

If anyone has a chassis going then do let me know.

A couple of other things that I have been working on.

Just received my Heljan 33012 and I’m pleased with it. The white around the windscreens and cab is the wrong colour and should be cream but after nearly committing to doing it I have decided against it as for the gain I don’t think the work was worth it. The model is otherwise great. I have fitted a double iPhone speaker in the original tanks ready for sound, detailed the cabs and fitted a driver in each, hand weathered the roof and certain other details and painted the wheels brown ready for airbrush weathering.

I have also started the first of my rake of West Coast Rail Company coaches, the buffet. It’s nearly done and is looking good. I have another one (BSK) to paint, have pre-ordered 4 Bachmann ones and I have 3 or 4 Pullmans to adjust as required. This will make a decent rake.

Anyway hope you like the pics.

Interesting info on the West Coast rake Andy, I've just completed my 9th coach for my rake. I've got  a mixture of Mk1's & Mk2's and have reshaped a Mk1 kitchen coach so it authentically looks like 1961.

Here's the link to the thread I started on the rake:

I'll try and upload the remaining coach pictures once I download them from my phone.

The Colas 70 body is finished, it will end up with a little frame dirt overspray on the valances to tie it all together once I find a chassis.

I have also been working on 31128 ‘Charybdis’, been thinking about doing it for a long while and decided I really wanted it and so pleased I did. Going to be a great old school but bang up to date loco on Badgers Cross. Can’t wait until it’s complete and weathered.
Plenty more coming soon.

Plenty more work progressing along the work bench.
3 WCRC Pullman coaches to add to the rake that is slowly coming together. These were from Hattons as a new unboxed bargain pack of 3 (2 pullmans and one BSK in choc/cream), I bought 2 packs as they were so cheap (£75). All were modern with cantrail lining and warning flashes so perfect for this application. I added the crests and names and then weathered them. I will add people to the whole rake when it’s complete.

Also finished another 4 Revolution MMA wagons, no pictures but will add a video once the rake is complete.

I also had a hankering for DRS 37401 in large logo after seeing it taking some greater Anglia coaches for scrap a few months back. As the large logo body exists already I didn’t want to paint one up so I kept my eyes peeled on eBay. In the end I purchased a new weathered 37427 body (£46.50), complete new DRS 37402 for the chassis (£75.00) and rainbow railways transfers and etched nameplates (£10.00). I sold the DRS body for £54 as I didn’t want it.

So in the end it cost me a meagre total of £77.50 for all the bits. Spent a good while removing the shocking Bachmann factory weathering and then adding all the correct decals, details and then weathering. I have also added Legomanbiffo sound using a double iPhone speaker and it sounds superb.

Anyway some pictures.

Loads going on as per normal with no updates, standard.
Anyway a few pics of some stuff that has been worked.
Another weathered and graffitied Accurascale PCA wagon completed, still something like 7 to go.
I have purchased the Hornby GWR latest HST pack and weathered them along with a rake of coaches (3 full HST sets now). I personally like the realistic gloss finish but I have Matt painted the roofs to look more in keeping, drivers still to be added.
I have completed a few commissions (Dutch 37 is one such). Still requires buffer grease.
More pics tomorrow of my Hattons G+W 66 now weathered and finally weathered Colas 37099.

Plenty more inbound.

Finally got around to weathering Colas 37099 and also nearly finished Hattons G+W 66623.
The details on the Hattons 66 are amazing especially when weathered. Still got a driver to add and some exhaust detailing.

Very nice, especially the very light weathering on the 37.  I find its fairly easy to make anything heavily weathered, but very light weathering is so difficult.

Thanks Colin. I would call the Colas 37 medium weathered but you are right that light weathering can be tricky. One of the main issues is that you don’t get the full effect of the work you have done until it’s finished and dry, by then of course you may be past where you intended to stop.
Also I used to almost solely use the airbrush but nowadays I hand weather using paint, panel liner and powders and the airbrush is just the finishing touch.

Hohoho! I’ve been looking at the possibility of something like this but think I might be being a bit brave for my first cut and shut...

Just two pictures. I always plan on doing great stage check pictures and then get carried away actually doing it and take no pictures.

Anyway the roof (basic, more detail work will be done) is complete. Next is to lower the positioning of it about 0.5mm to get the height right. I have the roof fans to go on and will test them tomorrow.
After the roof major work being complete tomorrow I will move onto the side grill cut out and add the strengthening bars.

Noses have been smoothed out and are ready for some filler. Then post smoothing I can make the light units and add the multiple working socket.

After that lot I will go back to the roof and adjust various bits to look like the real thing.

I want to get it to the primer stage and then stop until more pictures come to light closer to completion.

Anyway its looking good so far.

So the GBRF 69 has reached as far as it is going for now. The roof has had the cooler fans added with pipe work and lifting lugs. The noses have been flushed, with light units added and multiple working socket.  The side has had the grill cut out put in with strengthening bars added.

Any more detail bits will be done when more complete pictures emerge. I will replace the hand rails with wire. The aerials will be adjusted as per the prototype and the side grill with be added when I know what it looks like.
I will get the paint prepped and get it primed and do some filling (not much to do) then get some pictures and add them on here.

There are a few compromises but overall it looks awesome. Can’t wait until it can be painted. I reckon it’s about 90% complete so just the easy bits to complete.

Looks good (which I mean sincerely, I actually kinda like the flush front / WIPAC’d 56...)

New opening looks like a dog’s dinner. Again a complement to your skill as the original looks like they got me to do it! :jester:

Awesome work - really appreciate you documenting the steps too as I’m sorely tempted to have a go after Xmas.
