RMweb Gold Andy7 Posted October 2, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 2, 2021 Couple of pics. 69002 body is almost complete, transfer done, glazing and cabs refitted, drivers fitted etc. Just got to modify a chassis (on-going). I have fiddled with my FREIGHTLINER 08, new DCC chip fitted with stat alive, cab light added and pair of drivers in the cab. I have also purchased a steamer (well 2 actually). A Hornby black 5 with DCC sound (very good on a V5 decoder), smoke box flicker tied into shovelling sounds, front lights and a seuthe smoke unit. All in its excellent and at a very good price. It did have 2 downsides, horrendous weathering (factory I think) and the boiler details were different to ones that run on the mainline. Cue Hornby black 5 number 2! Correct boiler and unweathered. So I have essentially swapped the good stuff onto the new loco. Not that easy though, one was a Factory DCC sound the other DCC ready, very different internal setups. So swapped body for new one and had to modify as per the first one to take all the gubbins in the right places, had to swap all the wheel sets over as well then swap tender body and wheels onto original chassis. All very confusing and rather daunting but now complete. Next I had to paint various bits to blend the 2 projects into completed models. Also now have a functioning but not required black 5 to put on eBay. Will add steamer pics tomorrow when real coal load added to tender and 3 man crew painted and added. Also completed another 3 WCRC Pullman liveried 57601 locos (one for myself). 2 to sell on, I have now completed 6 of these. So much more in the pipeline. 17
RMweb Gold Popular Post Andy7 Posted November 11, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 11, 2021 The 69 is finished, hurrah (just a tiny amount of weathering powder to go on the exhaust silencer. Very pleased with the result, the chassis needed as many modifications as the body. All chassis bits were bespoke made and I added buffers and pipes off Hattons 66’s which come with the required spares in the box. So Hornby 56 body with Bachmann 66 roof centre and Hattons 66 bits. Will be getting a run out of Badgers Cross layout next Monday and Tuesday. Video will be only YouTube later in the week. Its not a perfect copy but it is rather close. Some compromises have had to be made including the lights. Still looks the part and the lights still work as per Hornby 56. Let me know your thoughts. 19

RMweb Gold Andy7 Posted January 8, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2022 Plenty completed but not updated on here. A selection of completed stock is below: Bachmann 47 repainted and weathered as 47739 in GBRF livery. Bachmann 57 repainted and weathered as 57601 in WCRC Northern Belle livery. A couple of my autoballasters reworked with the Network Rail yellow stripe and I have added more detailing and weathering. I will complete the other 3 now to finish the rake off. Bachmann 66 repainted and weathered as 66723. Have a few more GBRF 66’s planned in the future. Graffitied and weathered Accurascale PCA to add to the rake (still 9 to complete). Will update more soon. 14
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted January 8, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 8, 2022 Very nice !! Currently producing a rake of WCRC stock, and turning a Freightliner 57/0 into WCRC 57006. The stock-box I found the 57/0 in also contained a 57/6, 602-605 are already in the fleet, so I may have to join you in producing 'Windsor Castle' !! Cheers, Phil.

I did see your WCRC rake being started and will be following with interest. My rake is only 1/3 complete despite threatening to do it for years (new and shiny things distracting me). 57601 is an interesting one with front lights, serek shutters and battery box/fuel tank combo bespoke to this loco. It means only the limited edition WCRC 57601 model from years ago correct straight from the box. That’s what I used for this model but with work you can make the Virgin or FGW ones correct. Will keep an eye on your thread. Andy

RMweb Gold Andy7 Posted February 3, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 3, 2022 Work bench has been busy as usual. Latest completions seen below. 43102 in Intercity livery (when with EMR) is now complete with detailed chassis and a little weathering. But if a pig to do this one if I’m honest. Turned out great in the end and will partner 43274 (the purple one) on Badgers cross layout now. DRS 68033 ‘The Poppy’ has now been all but completed. It was a renumber and rename of 68008 which was slightly tricky with the 68008 name removal. I have also fitted a wire loop coupling as the 68 couplings are a pain. Need to put a driver in and finish the roof weathering at the next airbrush session. WCRC 33207 has been back to the workbench for more detailing, extra weathering, painting the wheels and finishing off the buffer beams/fitting of ploughs. Painted this one ages ago to a very good standard but never sorted out the finer details. Now looking mighty fine and ready to pull the below coach (amongst others). WCRC Mk2 FK 13440 was a full repaint of the Bachmann model. I have painted the table tops and armrests along with fitting Hornby lighting and then weathering it. Really happy with this beauty. Will add passengers to the full rake when complete. Need to do a load more now to complement the Pullman’s I have. Donor coaches are purchased just need complete reworking. GBRF 66711 has also been completed for ages but returned to have illuminated models lighting boards fitted. Now done this along with the above will return to the layout for play time. 8

RMweb Gold 97406 Posted February 5, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 5, 2022 There’s some great stuff on here. Nice to see someone else doing what I enjoy best, but with a modern twist! The 69 is best. Ace stuff!
RMweb Gold 97406 Posted February 5, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 5, 2022 Regarding InterCity livery, I use transfers for the red and white stripes, laid over a gloss varnish finish, and using plenty of decal fluid. It often takes a few goes, and sometimes I get one just right and it then goes and sticks to my finger and comes away, accompanied by some colourful language. Once in place and dried, copious amounts of satin or matt varnish is applied. I’m currently working on an executive 86, but noticed Fox Transfers do the curvy end stripes for the HST power car, so may just look for a cheap Lima 43 to do up. I actually bought the Fox transfers Intercity HST transfers but decided not to use the red stripe and just painted it on. As it turns out the Intercity wording was a nightmare to get on (even on a perfect flat, gloss surface). It felt like the carrier film was super thin. Anyway it turned out ok in the end. Andy I've had some transfers peel up at the edge, sometimes when varnishing. Most frustrating when the respray has got that far. Decal fluid and acrylic varnish don't always go together too. I have toyed with painting the stripes using thin masking tape, but get a good result with the transfers. Your 43 looks well worth the effort anyway.
