Class "57" photos...

Three specials on the railcam.uk Crewe cams this morning, two involving Class 57s.

 

First was 1Z63, Cardiff-Fort William:

57301, Goliath, on 6Z20, 11:10, Whitemoor Yard L.D.C GBRF - Dereham U.K.F. (13:11) - ballast for Mid Norfolk.

Excellent photos of 57301, gutted that I couldn't get out of work in time to see it. Any idea where the wagons are at the moment or when they will leave?

 

Friday is supposedly the off-site day for the Falcons. Not sure where they are though.

For some inexplicable reason I omitted to post these from a couple of months ago.   :dontknow:

 

On 14th February 2015 57312 'Solway Princess' leads 1Z75, 13:42 Sunderland to Manchester Victoria, DRS Northern Belle through Mirfield.

 

 

With 57305 'Northern Princess' on the rear.

Saw this working at Acton Bridge today on the WCML.  It was a Crewe to Liverpool South Parkway - Liverpool South Parkway to Wembley Central with DRS class 57's top n tailed.  Locos were 57306 and 57301.  Maybe someone has some more info on the working?  Pics taken with camera on mobile phone . . . a new camera is on birthday wishlist!

 

Here's the train heading towards Liverpool South Parkway with 57306 on the front at 08:58

At 10:14 the train returned heading south.  57301 now at the front.

Thanks Mick!  I didn't realise that it was the FA Cup Semi Final.  Lost touch with football with Wigan Athletic doing so bad this year . . . Wigan winning the FA Cup ourselves seems a long time ago now.  It's good to have a few different hobbies and interests!

...with 57306 bringing up the rear.

Can someone answer a silly question.

Is there any difference between the as built 57/3 (ie pre cab front chop) and the production series 57/6?

 

I have a damaged Virgin 57/3 and rather fancy giving it a re spray into fgw faux GWR

Pretty certain they are the same. The VT 57/3's were ordered with Dellners, but weren't originally fitted as the design hadn't been sorted out.

There's no difference between them other than the 57/3 have the dellner on the front

 

All the FGW 57/6s were actually converted from no heat 47s, which made them a bit more challenging!

I was working in Carlisle today and decided to try and locate Direct Rail Services KIngmoor Depot  when I had finished my job. I had a look on Real Time Trains and noticed a working from the depot to Oxenholme Lake District planned.  It was due to leave in 20 mins so I waited around.

Here's DRS 57036 moving out of KIngmoor depot.

57305 after arriving on 1Z34 on Mother's Day 15/3/15

One from 23/5/15. 57306 on the tail end of the Belle, arriving 32 minutes late due to a trespass incident at Edge Hill. 306 was ready to form the 22:23 ECS to Edge Hill Intercity Depot at 23:03.

On 31st May 2015, after a Northern Belle lunchtime circular tour from York to Leeds (via Wakefield Kirkgate, Stalybridge, Rochdale and Hebden Bridge !), 57312 'Solway Princess' leads 5Z67 the 17:27 empty stock working from Leeds to Crewe carriage sidings passed Bradley Junction, Huddersfield.

 

 

With 57301"Goliath' bringing up the rear.
