Been doing some cutting for one of the next three coaches, these may take some time so no photos as yet.

Careful Clive, you're treading on the toes of decent music, it will do your street cred no good whatsoever!

Or was it just random chance?

I did like some music before punk and Mr Gallagher was always great to see live.

The extra steel weights are there more for pick up ATM. It is only picking up off the powered axle, need to fit a second pick up bogie. But it was moving under its own power using a 9v battery on the track nicely.

Cost, less than £10.

And looking at the size, might be able to find the 1mm i need to fit under a 8`6" bogie.

Smug, me?

Hell yes.

Hi Dave,

A smug Yorkshireman who is "careful" with money, who would have thought it !!!

I have to say, as Clive has already noted, the motor bogie looks a good little set up, well done and I wish your success with it. It is great to see some real ingenuity in your modelling, any chance of diagrams and links to components ?

The bits needed are N20 gear motor , a module 0.5 D hole shaped gear to fit over drive shaft, and a module 0.5 crown gear to fit over the axle. I have used a 11mm ish one on this set up but have seen one on evilbay that is only 8.5 mm, but the hole for the axle is only 1.5mm so would need enlarging. The only tricky bit is shortening the D shaped drive shaft on the end  of the N20 gear motor. The best bit is if my maths are right the 1000 rpm output would give a scale speed near 100mph.

Will post more soon when I do a second. After all, one is a fluke, being able to repeat it is needed to prove it.

Ps- the prototype is using 12.6mm Bachmann disc heels to represent 3'3" worn wheels for a EMU motor bogie.

Well done Clive, you’ve managed to post a song that I actually liked. In fact , I really, really liked it as Ska is much more my thing than Punk . I’ve plated it three times already.   A few more like that will go down well. :)

Today I finished the cutting process for the next three coaches, two for me and one for a friend.

They are 2 buffet cars and a sleeper, a special prize for anyone who can guess which diagrams they are.

Recently I purchased David Larkin's recent book on wooden bodied mineral wagons and was sad to see that my repainted ex PO wagon was not featured in his book. The lettering was done by hand.

Hi Clive,

Now I really am confused, unpainted coaches that look like wood have been cut and shut into something that will look original, along with a wagon that has been painted to look like replacement wood has actually been cut and shut into its structure to make it look in part unoriginal.

'New competition on Shef-Ex toybrains etc' :D

What is the maximum number of bits Clive can cut to make a coach side?

I believe I counted 21 pieces in one of those, but I may have lost count part way along!
