RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted July 17, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 17, 2021 (edited) Now the second class coaches. The first second corridor, this has the 5 compartments from one of the BSKs, 2 compartments from another BSK and one from the D1751 conversion. Not much done to the corridor side except opening out the blank panel where the door in the corridor divide the betters from the riff raff. I used my new pillar drill for that. The other SK is from two BSKs, one giving 3 compartments, the other in BR livery 5. The corridor side was from the same two coaches. The last conversion is a BSK, the LMS built a few with only 4 compartments. You can see the extended brake van, it comes from the BR liverly coach. The other coach in the train is a standard Mainline BSK. For the locospotters out there the train was hauled by this chap. RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted July 17, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 17, 2021 I still have some brake end bits, so I may well get another CK and make the D1755 BCK. It was a fun project and if I make the last BCK then I would have made one of each of the LMS all door period 1 coaches from the two types that Mainline made. For the price that can be paid for on E-bay etc, a few hours work and I had something different and I think a lot cheaper than brass overlays. 5 1

May try again tomorrow. Hi Eric It is your fault I have butchered these. Since the time I assisted you with the drawings of the D1755 I have thought about doing some thing similar, then thumbing through the Essery and Jenkinson books the other week the daft side of my brain said go for it. While I was making these I considered not doing the CK with the two coupe compartments as there were only 25 of them, I seem to be making quite a few rare types of coaches. Then I thought "If I were to be modelling the WCML in the 50s I would need at least 10 Duchesses and there were only 38 of them and I have 7 or 8 Deltics for a model that doesn't need any of the 22 built."

John Tomlinson
Knowing the chaps on here to be ever so slightly interested in DMU's, I did see earlier that Lendon's of Cardiff are now selling new Hornby 121 drive units for £8.98. These are the self contained units that Hornby developed to replace the Lima pancakes. It seems quite a good price to me. John. 1 3

Hi John I find the Lendon's search engine hard to negotiate, what is the part number of these drive units.

Hi Clive, I had about six of the Replica / Bachmann ones running but decided that I would like the TK which was never done. Then I though it would be nice to have a BCK as a through coach to attach to a local train. I decided to stick at that because I wanted to do some stock for excursions. I've done most of what I want LMS-wise although I do have a couple of sets of P3 six-bay Open Third etches which may get put onto suitable donors. My next job will probably be one of the 60ft BCK rebuilds which had P3-style steel sides added to P1 coaches. After that I have two sets of Gresley Teak BTO etches awaiting suitable donors for the ER excursion to Dudley Zoo hauled either by my B1 or Brush Type 2 Eric

Rutland's territorial status is a bit complex, and I've sent you a PM. At least our esteemed Prime Minister recognised the quality of the place in his "levelling sideways" speech last week. Life expectancy of folk here is apparently 10 years greater than for those in Glasgow or Blackpool, something even he, in his wisdom and magnificence, finds baffling!
