TEAMYAKIMA
My new workshop and/or layout room has arrived...…………… Two hours later and it now looks like this ……………. This new shed is not for storage of the present layout and it's not big enough to set up the whole layout, but it can be used to work on baseboards - up to four at a time! RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted February 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 5, 2019 Great to have your dedicated space for modelling. I did so in 2014 and my summerhouse is one of the reasons not to move... Mine is a bit shorter, so 3 modules would be the maximum, normally I work on 2 as there is some kitchen furniture in it as well.
RMweb Premium Ian Morgan Posted February 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 5, 2019 (edited) Mine is over 10 years old now, and due another repaint this summer. It was a very worthwhile investment though. As I model 2mmFS, my layout does fit, I just have to move all the other accumulated rubbish first. TEAMYAKIMA
Moving to a new house which needs a lot of work has been a big distraction, but am doing whatever I can on the layout. One job I've been doing is evaluating every loco we used at Stevenage.... identifying any issues which need attention. This was an easy one to identify! Luckily I had found and saved the screw and managed to get it back together. I have invested in a rolling road and all's now good with 6165 again. 5

TEAMYAKIMA
I have taken delivery of some new models I have a rake of 25K blue/white coaches - up until now they have all been Bachmann ones. The problem with Bachmann 25K class coaches is that the range is very restricted - YZ hard class seated coaches and YW hard class sleeping cars. Now N27 have introduced 25K coaches - the colour match is not perfect but after a little weathering it should not be that noticeable. The YW on the left is a Bachmann model and the CA (restaurant car) is the new N27 addition to the rake Here is the N27 RW soft class sleeper ………………………. Here is the N27 NL (baggage car)………………………
TEAMYAKIMA
I have also started buying locos outside my era that will live in my showcase or may sometimes make a 'guest appearance' once in a while . Such as this one ………………….
RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted February 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 15, 2019 I do exactly the same, sometimes I cannot resist buying a loco even if it is outside the epoch I am modelling. It is just collecting. you like something - you have it. Just ordered an epoch 6 Austrian loco, the layout is in epoch 4/5.... Vecchio
RMweb Premium Andy Hayter Posted February 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 15, 2019 Are there any links to R27? I tried a search but appart from a shop in HK that was selling one type of coach, I drew a blank.

TEAMYAKIMA
The recent house move still means that I have plenty of other things on my agenda other than the layout, but managed to spend some time on it today - the depot didn't have doors at Stevenage - it does now! On another subject, I have recently bought two 2018 production QJs from Hong Kong. I thought I had ordered 7143 and 7190, but turns out that I mistakenly ordered two 7190. So I've listed on ebay at a straight conversion (no VAT or duty) from its HK price - $(US) 500 - if anyone is interested. It may be that these two I bought will be the only two of thjat running number in the UK as this model was only released in China.
richard i
If there are no takers why not renumber it, or were their detail differences which I am missing as not a China expert. richard
mjenderby
MPaul, any tips on how to stop the QJ throwing rods? This happened on 7127 soon after delivery. Have tried a spot of loctite but keeps on happening. Fortunately not lost the screw (yet). Is 6165 a Bachmann or MTC sample? Mark

TEAMYAKIMA
Have cobbled together some temporary lighting so can work on the fiddle yard approaches - adding a new point on the approaches to the industrial FY roads - this will allow us to run one extra train...….
TEAMYAKIMA
The new industrial railway FY point is now in place permanently...
TEAMYAKIMA
Some other points have come out - these are now no longer needed and can be used on the next project - YES there will be a 'next' project - once I get the shed sorted! I'll be replacing the gaps with plain track tomorrow....
TEAMYAKIMA
I have been preparing my new shed before insulating and lining it in two weeks time. I have now fitted permanent LED strip lights - 3 x 5 footers - and laid in the wiring for 8 x double sockets. New fuse box at the northern end of the shed …. each cardboard box is a complete train ….. Eventually there will be a workbench with 4 x double sockets at the other end of the shed Even the outside has had a re-vamp - including a new motion sensitive floodlight...… Edited April 6, 2019 by TEAMYAKIMA

Richard Richard There are detail differences with QJ's. I'm not an expert but there are single and double headlights, high and low headlights, 12 and 8 wheel tenders, standard smoke deflectors and 'German style' small deflectors, various adornments and various designs of front boards on the pilot. Now there were several examples of deflectorless QJ's - now it so happens that I also own 2 x 6266 and I plan to convert it to a deflectorless version This photos shows high and low headlight variants …………………. Unusually the one on the left has no front board so that would be a relatively easy conversion. The one on the right has only the China Rail emblem which might be doable...……. 7043 would be difficult as the front board has Chinese characters on it...... TEAMYAKIMA
My friend who will be insulating and lining the shed came round this afternoon and needed the shed to look its best. So I make no apologies for posting the two most recent photos of the shed - it's never been so tidy and organised - and most likely will never be so tidy and organised again
TEAMYAKIMA
I have now removed four more points from the three industrial roads in the fiddle yard - yet again I built in features in the fiddle yard which no-one ever used... The industrial roads are 16, 17 and 18 and the crossover you can see links 17 and 18 - the two crossovers linking 16 and 17 (one in each direction) have now been removed. All clockwise trains will now use road #16, all anti-clockwise trains will use road #18 and trains which change direction in the fiddle yard will use road #17 using the remaining crossovers to run round via road #18 when its vacant. TEAMYAKIMA
Since our first real operating session at the Bristol exhibition last May I have now taken out a total of 16 points to simplify operation in the fiddle yard - that's nearly enough for the new fiddle yard on my new home layout....
