Peter,

Thanks for your interest, but you have slightly misunderstood.

Bachmann China originally produced some of their US freight stock in Chinese liveries - they were fake and generally pretty awful , but of all of them the coal hoppers weren't too bad and I have about 25 of them . I would like 2/3 more of these specific Bachmann Chinese liveried hoppers..... as seen in this photo behind the double-headed steamers...

I'm embarrassed by the lack of progress lately - partly to do with a 8 day holiday in Croatia and partly because the shed has been so hot that work has impossible. Got into the shed today at 6.30am and it cool enough to make some progress . Have been working on the level crossing area with static grass....

When there's no steam train the photographer sits in his car and waits

When a steam train approaches he's out taking photos

More progress on grass - 3 out of 4 scenic boards now 'done' ..................

I re-did this board to change the colour of the grass .... the first attempt was far too green ... this is as 'dead' as I can make it.

These days it is easy to make dead grass - I just need to look out into my garden - then I know what the perfect colour of dead grass is.... And you can add a few pieces of green material - as the weeds normally do not get yellow...

Happy modelling. Great layout.

Very hot in the shed .... not much progress.

I was unhappy with the taxi waiting by the level crossing and so spent some time on it..

I painted the interior and added a driver..... the driver is very difficult to see unless you look at the car side on at eye level and you can then see him in silhouette

Various issues (not least the temperature in my shed!) have meant that I have made little progress on the layout recently.

I have prioritised jobs I can do in the (cooler) house.

Have ordered new fireproof drape to smarten up the layout

The drape is 26ft of GREY!  So to jazz things up a bit I've ordered two of these the brighten things up a bit!

Also our Digitrax radio 'box' was somewhat cobbled together for Bristol ......

The box will be seen by the public as it will be 7ft up in the air on a wooden pole and I like things that the public can see to look professional (or at least semi-professional!) and so have done a make-over............

I would say that this will help visitors place where the layout is set, but a full sized Japanese flag on the front of my previous layout seemed not to deter the 'where is this set?' type questions.

Sounds familiar. My mate Doug was often asked the same sort of questions when he was exhibiting "Setagaya" and "Enoshima".

Cheers,

Mark.

Good idea. I have recently bought another UR92 for my portable HOm layout, and such a box will help protect it from the rigours of being moved a lot.

Have been going back to detailing things.

Have returned to the hotel lobby area.

Bought some 3D printed sofas for the bar area.

But Preiser figures don't sit well on them ...

So I filed them down - the right hand one is lowered - REALLY!!

You can see the relief on the face of that Preiser figure, that you decided to file down the sofa, rather than, well, you know (the 'other' solution)     :O
