Bachmann Europe Plc announces Graham Farish 2014 programme
20/07/2014

We at Bachmann are pleased to unveil our new programme for 2014 from Graham Farish.

374-912.jpg

Graham Farish cements its position at the forefront of British N scale with the arrival of the N Class steam locomotive newly adorned in SECR Dark Grey livery and the replicating of the SECR Birdcage coaching stock previously introduced in OO. These introductions allow an authentic representation of a pre-grouping train, further expanding possibilities for the N scale modeller.

New announcements from Scenecraft
20/07/2014

Our extensive Scenecraft range of fully painted and decorated model buildings continues to expand with a number of new items for 2014, adding the next level of realism to model railway layouts, dioramas and many other scenic applications.

psl.jpg

In N scale, we see the introduction of the power station collection, an industrial staple perfect for completing lineside scenes. A static caravan and low relief power signal box along with a host of new low relief shops and businesses complete our new announcements for the Scenecraft range.

Additional stories will be posted over the coming weeks as we reveal our new and exciting plans to you, our dedicated modellers and collectors across the world.

Birdcage Coaches

The South East & Chatham Railway Birdcage 60ft coaches now being developed in OO scale will also appear in N scale.  Three versions will be available comprising a Brake Composite, Composite and Brake 3rd. The Bluebell Railway in Sussex has all three types operating on its line.

The N scale vehicles will be produced in three car packs each carrying a prototypical set number, as rakes were permanently coupled together.

Liveries will include SE & CR Wellington brown, SR olive green and BR vermillion.

Hi , A good selection and inspirered for coach packs - more to come. NSE N gets a good lift - come on folks prove them right. Second batch MK2 Tso in  blue grey welcome. Still looking for 158 ! Good news on 25 and 37/4 on its way

Wagons and coaches look good and buildings esp Power station will be good sellers I am sure.

Thanks for early Bump

I like the scenecraft power station models, but at what price? There is a guy in Australia on the Facebook N gauge group building a model of Didcot Power Station, who scratch builds all the building and the standard is superb, and has shown how he builds items like cooling towers.

Disappointing to see no retooled class 158 sprinter. Plus nothing to address the gap in modern wagons, which are available in OO, but not in N (SSAs, VDAs etc). Will be interesting to see the class 37 refurbished locos. Another run of Mk2a blue / grey TSOs is welcome, better get an order in because last time they sold out within a few weeks. A large logo 47/4 would be nice to model a transpennine train of the late 80s. Plus no Railfreight sector class 47, which is a surprise?

Very nice range of scenecraft, the power station set with some coal trains would make a very nice layout in itself.

I'm neither surprised nor disappointed by the lack of new locos - when you look in the catalogue, there is an impressive amount of new models on their way, and thanks to the OO announcement I expect we will see a new N gauge 90 in a couple of years!

Also, after much moaning about the lack of sector era liveries, hopefully the chattering masses will be pleased to see some NSE stock on its way.

Re Andy's comment

"The Bluebell Railway in Sussex has all three types operating on its line"

Erm... No we don't

Currently we have a single brake 3rd (originally a 2nd + 3rd composite IIRC) in operation. We have another 2 brake vehicles awaiting restoration but unfortunately none of the centre vehicles have survived. The bluebell therefore plan to use a "near enough" looking coach that is actually a SR rebuild (new underframe + recycled 4 / 6 wheeled bodies to make a birdcage set.

Currently the restored birdcage tends to run with the operational "100 seater" and the Brighton bogie first, usually combined with the 3 Maunsells - though the LSWR brake is frequently seen too.

Lack of sectors...

No class 31 post BR blue

No sector 37/4

No 47/0 post BR blue

No RES 47/7 or IC 47/8

Regional railways coaching stock?

Etc...

Edit: I see the disappointment, angst, and "well, that was a fat lot of nothing" comments have begun in the OO announcements thread! Chill out guys...

Well I'll echo it here. A lot of fuss over nothing.

I'm chilled though...and so is the wallet

No class 40 then. :-(

NSE coaches is good though but ashame no regional railways ones too

No new 60/66/70 running numbers or liveries which is a bit odd I feel

Anyway I will be ordering a class 20 in railfreight and nse 47 plus a few coaches

£69.95 each!!!

Although I admit that the scenecraft range is good for standard etc, those prices are way too high for me!!

Best wishes

Putting it all into perspective - this is a big release on Bachmann's part, sadly most of it being on Scenecraft stuff no one can afford, some random Dynamis Ultima DCC System thingy, 009 stuff and 00 gauge, rather than us.

Glad I went out and some fun this morning rather than waiting for that.

Whilst I was not expecting much given the previous announcement of 3 new items (and certainly was not banking on their being anything that I wanted), I was expecting more than 3 coaches. This seems to me to be a way of saying that we have not quite given up on n gauge in the UK, but it's a long way down our list of priorities.

Indeed, as to build the complete Power Station it is going to cost close to £300! I don't doubt that it will be impressive to look at, but I bet you could get a professional model maker to build one at that price.

There's not exactly a lot in the OO thread so I don't think its a case of N gauge modellers being left out in the cold. There is quite a backlog on stuff to come and Bachmann need to get on and deliver some of that stuff, they seem to have got off lighter than Hornby and Dapol over delays but perhaps their wider range hid it better.

Although the number of newly announced items is disappointing, I suspect it's because Bachmann are aware that a lot of items that they announced 18 months ago are still at least six months away from being released, so they are attempting to catch up.

I agree it's not a very exciting list, but I'm reading it more as "Let's focus on delivering the huge backlog of stuff we've announced over the last couple of years before announcing yet more new models that probably won't see the light of day for 3-4 years".

As far as I'm concerned, the most exciting stuff is progress on previously-announced models; most notably the Polybulks.

They have always said that this was a catch up year (I would see some of the models being at least 18 months from the shops still), but I don't see that this announcement shows a desire to expand a market, it merely shows one to stop it contracting too quickly.
