It's never had a proper clean even when it ran on castle works. Word on the street from Gandalph is October, keep you posted. And.... naturol Posted September 13, 2015 Author Share Posted September 13, 2015 Had a visit from Ben Brown last week, and we ran the odd train and chatted , three hours flew by. Took some pictures with my new canon but I'm crap and need lessons, We discovered that I had not wired up the fiddle yard, so today, had a running session, soldered up the droppers, and put up some more detailing, need to add more signs around the plant, but it's getting there. Have seen my cl60. And the cl66 and R/F cl 09. All being weathered by Adrian at Lord and Butler. They will look the business, cracked and picked up a Hornby sentinel as well, having the chip fitted this week, but not weathering it, one of the two pristine locos to run on the layout. naturol Posted September 20, 2015 Author Share Posted September 20, 2015 Bought a Hornby sentinel yesterday, had it chipped at L&B, not weathered, this will be a spot hire loco just to add variety. Runs a treat, but the small wheelbase may prove troublesome on the point work. Especially the diamond crossing....Fingers crossed. Also features the newest addition to the fleet, the Hornby sentinel. br2975 Posted September 28, 2015 Share Posted September 28, 2015 Just to add some prototypical background to Paul's thread....... . Back in 2003, the Newport ADJ - Barry Docks trip ran daily. . The loco would uncouple from the train, and stand at the buffer stops whilst the Barry Dock pilot shunted the container terminal, and any traffic for the D*w C*rning plant. . The pilot would stand idle for the remainder of the day, and only be used for shunting this one train, usually employing the driver of the mainline loco. . A travelling shunter would arrive in his van,from Cardiff Tidal. . Once the shunting was completed, the shunter would return to its stabling position on the quayside, and the train would return to Newport. . I have put together a few photos showing 60051 having arrived from ADJ and 09003 drawing the container train thereby releasing 60051 from the blocks, and finally 09001 viewed across the dock, stabled on the quayside. . Where members of the Somerset Modelrailway club have put on a cracking event. Great choice of layouts, and trade stands, and the finest food hall and eating experience I've had at any show. Thank you for having me. It was " Vopak terminals" first outing and excluding a few technical hiccups ( DCC DIGITAL COBALTS AGAIN) all went well. I was not accompanied this time by my brother, but cracked and took LIz, and had some help on Saturday by Ben Brown. ( cheers Ben) Cut to the chase..... I was presented with the SMC St Christopher Shield. Voted for by the members of the host club to mark the level of the modelling that had gone into the chemical processing plant. I was well stoked you may say, as there were a number of well regarded and highly detailed layouts in attendance that I hold in high esteem. Your layout was my personal 'best in show' which was a difficult decision as there were a number of layouts I thought were very good.
