Jon, did these wagons get over the woodhead line? I'm sure I've seen photos of these or something similar to them in some of the books.

Hi

Yes they did running from Immingham to Anglesey. Something one day I hope to recreate in N.

Cheers

Paul

Really like these. They look very impressive. I too bought some of these to build but haven't got round to it yet. What buffers did you use? Where did you get the transfers from? Can you give a bit more info on the brake handles please? Any hints and tips you might have would be really useful.

Good Evening

I bought some of the original models off Jonathan and this is the final wagons finished as close as we could get them by a friend.

Thanks Jon, I now have eight more to make from scratch

Nik

Do you know when these wagons carried this livery?

If you look through the gallery of photos of these wagons (see post 35 on this thread) they do not appear to have the CAIB logo or the TOPS panel. They do have a logo for Anglesey Aluminium.

I want to model mine in mid 70's condition so if you can help me out that would be great.

Thanks

John

I spent the weekend at Scalefourum knocking more sheets out if anyone wants a set.

Sorry to post again, just getting info/stuff together to make a start on these wagons

Where can I source brake levers for these? I know other things such as air cylinders and pipes etc I can scratch build with plastic and wire etc.

Thanks in advance,

Caz

Been getting on with these wagons now, and theyre looking good. All built, so my attention moved to the wheels.

I've never used brass compensation units before, and was apprehensive about buying some incase I messed them up. So, I decided to go with making some myself using CAD software DesignSpark and 3D printing them via Shapeways...

They're fitted with 2mm shouldered bearings (Markits) and then have Cambrian suspension unit moulding on the front.

The scratch builds on this thread are looking great

The silhouette cutter would be a nice addition, but they're still too pricey for my pocket.

Everything I do is by rule, vernier, square and scalpel.

Still, I do like a scratch build and looking at the different methods and tools you chaps use.

Crack on my friends what you're doing looks great

95% of what I do is 'the old fashioned way' and indeed this thread started with me doing it that way, but there are examples where doing it with a cutter makes it easier and quicker.

If its a help you do also get a lot more parts out of a single sheet of plastic because you can lay it out efficiently, but the saving might take a few hundred sheets before it overcomes the cost of the cutter.
