I went past on the bike the other day ,sorry didn`t get a photo.

But i can tell you,that you would be lucky to see where the

class 56`s are standing.(at that time)

Plant life seems to be above rolling stock height these days.

Lets be honest the railways don't really want freight on them unless its bulk transfer that makes money.

Look at all the stations that had small yards connected to them, just look in old books then do google earth today.

Same goes to a lot of works that had railway connections, lines gone and now just memories.

There must have been many happy scrap men in 80,s/90,s????

I used to love going to Healy mills in the 80's as a young lad it was either there or tinsley mostly tinsley so always got excited to see what was there and what was left. don't think ive any photos though unfortunately.

The only pictures I have are about the same time haven't been in years I just wish those days when I first went I'd had a camera

I was on trainee secondment at Healey Mills in 1980 with the Area Freight Manager (Lawrie Hall - a legend in his own lunchtime). The words that stayed with me were - "if the wagons are stuck in here, they're not earning money".

 

That was just before the control tower scared me to death with a blast from one of the wagon retarders just as I walked past it. Barstewards.
