jonny777
Yes, you are right about Lymington. Thanks. I managed eventually to find an old photo here http://m.throughtheireyes2.co.uk/480_329_csupload_31367917.jpg?u=736204026
Bulleidnutter
Here is another photo that has come into my possession. For a shot taken through a window, it seems to be perfectly exposed for the outside light. Does anyone recognise the signalbox or the interesting shaped buildings. The old car adds to the vintage nature of the scene, but 30548 did last until 1965, being a Three Bridges and then Eastleigh allocated loco in its final years, if that is any help. s30548_.jpg Very distinctly Wareham. The white building is the give away. And I would say just to other end of the box is the now defunct level crossing.
jonny777
Excellent, excellent. Thanks Bulleidnutter, and at the risk of appearing patronising - here is a treat, but is this Bournemouth?
Peter Kazmierczak
Weymouth.
jonny777
Thanks Peter. Although a Gresley fanatic, I found the Southern fascinating. However, I have no idea of the geography - but just love collecting. I now have 350 BR steam slides (100 SR), which has taken me years to accumulate - and has almost bankrupted me in the process. jonny777
I wondered if this was Mossend, or thereabouts? It would appear to be in Scotland, because the first 20 is 20107 which was a long time ED resident, but the wires in the background but the foreground being unwired confuses me. The 25 is 25232. luckymucklebackit
Its not Mossend, fairly certain it is the fan of sidings opposite Polmadie Depot, photograph taken from Jessie Street with the flats in Caledonia Road just visible in the background, the overbridge is Polmadie Road Jim

Fat Controller
Just guessing at Swindon. Would the coaches on the right be at the Carriage Works?
jonny777
Swindon is a good shout, but wasn't/isn't the office block by the station a darker colour than that?
andy stroud
Gloucester. I think that's a dmu in the depot over to the right.
Peter Kazmierczak
On reflection I think it could well be Gloucester; is the photographer at Horton Road crossing? THe building in the background being the Glos. Royal.

THe building in the background being the Glos. Royal. Hi Peter, I think the hospital is more over to the right, out of view. I think the building you can see here is an office block, (possibly BT). Think it has been pulled down now. The bit that puzzels me, is that I didn't realise that the depot area was fenced from the running lines.
RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted February 7, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2015 Spot on Andy! Taken from Horton Road Crossing Knew it was calling me - heres that office block https://www.flickr.com/photos/sydpix/7815610356/in/photolist-pS2EJc-oKUusM-hhutzT-d61uiW-7jjntJ-bs7xLj-7jftne-9DcU9i-qkSDhF-5xCD2Z-dsN6eM-7jjnCs-7jfuyD-7jfvKV-oTKU2e-a92EuB-oLyBzq-aoMKyi-cUD3EG-cxxFnU-cVtUSj-8r1uXn-aS6gdz-djZB2X-9yRoCW-6dWM9R-djZoD4-6dWLZ4-6dWM7z-6dWM46-7jjmCE-dt7nqG-52T2KX-5TqPSD-59Ggyy-oEMJYE-bqXSKP-9yR1k1-8CZER7-7jjtVh-djZ32r-97JNBg-bsJvb6-foAaBx-bnoVw7-9qo2cE-8urcTJ-deF9bE-7nD43k-7jfuFK Phil
jonny777
Wow. Thanks Peter, Andy, Phil. That is great. Another old slide identified. I did think that the train was rather unusual for Swindon, with a 31 on Mk1s complete with buffet.
andy stroud
Hi Phil. Thanks for the confirmation. And that train with the 20s was September 1989 I think. It did three return trips to the Sharpness branch, as I'm sure you know!
