Popular Post Andy Y
Bachmann Europe have today announced at their Collectors Club event on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway that they are to produce an OO gauge model of the L&NWR 0-6-2T Webb Coal Tank.300 of the locos were built from 1881 to 1897, 292 were still in service at grouping; 64 passed into British Railways ownership at nationalisation with one lasting into preservation as pictured. The preserved loco is owned by The National Trust acquired as part of the collection at Penrhyn Castle and is now in the custody of the 'Bahamas' Locomotive Society cared for at their base on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. Bachmann Europe Plc today (30th August 2014) announced during the Annual Bachmann Collectors Club event at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, that it is to produce a OO Scale Webb Coal Tank (0-6-2T) locomotive. 300 locomotives were built by the London & North Western Railway at Crewe Works between 1881 and 1897 and were originally built for working heavy mineral trains particularly in South Wales and Cumberland. They became mixed traffic engines and many found employment on passenger trains with vacuum brakes and carriage heating equipment subsequently fitted to the entire fleet in the early days of 20th Century. At the Grouping in 1923 all but 6 locomotives passed to the London Midland & Scottish Railway, the first withdrawal having taken place in 1921. 64 of the Class passed into British Railways ownership on Nationalisation of the railways in January 1948. The last of the Class (No. 58926) was withdrawn from Pontypool in 1958 but fortunately was saved after an appeal. After spells in various locations including Penrhyn Castle near Bangor and the now closed Dinting Railway Centre, the preserved example is now resident on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway where it is in the custody of the Bahamas Locomotive Society. Dennis Lovett, Public Relations Manager at Bachmann Europe said “we are delighted to announce that as part of the Bachmann Branchline OO range, we are to produce a model of the Webb Coal Tank locomotive, which is today the engine allocated to us for hauling our special train over the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. The Research & Development for this model has been completed and the research package is currently with our parent company, Kader ready for work to start on the tooling late this year. We are grateful to the custodians of the sole remaining example, The Bahamas Locomotive Society, and to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for assistance in bringing this project to fruition”. Three versions of the model are being produced initially. These will be; 35-050 No. 1054 in LNWR plain black livery 35-051 No. 7841 in LMS black livery 35-052 No. 58900 in BR black livery The model is expected to be available in around 18 months time.

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted August 30, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 30, 2014 So Mr Coachmann and I were right - just that our timing was a bit off (although we did get the right year). Anyway such things aside this is an excellent addition to their range and I look forward to a BR liveried version becoming available in the future.

5 C
I just knew as soon as I'd bought the London Road Models kit that (most likely) Bachmann would produce one. A great prototype, full of character. Definitely one to look forward to. Andy
RMweb Gold big jim Posted August 30, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 30, 2014 Lovely, not my era at all but i think i might partake in one when they are released, lnwr lined black for me I remember back in 1987-88ish i went with my dad to chester to see 1054 on its final mainline run, in the days before RTT and instant 'gen' he had heard about of some sort of private charter being run for a famous railway photographers birthday, iirc it just had a single coach behind it,, we waited in chester on the old goods landing opposite the yard and sure enough it came into plat 7 where it was watered and my dad got lots of piccies there we then went off to mickle trafford (barrow) and my dad photographed it there too, when he got home he went to 'wind the film back' in his camera and the film snapped so he never got any pictures of the day at all and he was absolutly gutted

Mark Dickerson
Gosh, that really set the online world ablaze, didn't it? Is everyone away? Next time maybe someone should leave some ice cream out of the freezer to make it newsworthy. This is great news. And now that Bachmann will have *four* loco models suitable for LMS push-pull stock...

Popular Post Jol Wilkinson
To do it justice if they do it in LNWR livery you'll need to build a rake of something like this; and because I couldn't be bothered to wait, here is one I built about twenty years ago. brossard
...And now that Bachmann will have *four* loco models suitable for LMS push-pull stock... ...but...no push pull stock has been announced. ...or did I miss something? John
Pint of Adnams
So we already have a Lanky 2-4-2T that'll serve as a good basis for the ex-GE F3-F6 tanks, and now an there's to be an 0-6-2T that provides the engineering basis for an N7. C'mon Bachmann...
antrobuscp
Great to hear. I'll probably buy one even though I've already got a kit built version from the old K's kit. Now, how about a 4-4-0 or 4-6-0 of LNWR origin?

bill badger
What a good choice. Will definitely be having one (or two perhaps, if a LNWR livery is done - just like I did with the L&Y 2-4-2t). If I listen carefully I can hear my wallet sobbing quietly.... let's see: Inspection Saloon, 1F, Stanier Mogul and now this one! The only consolation is that it'll probably be at least 2 years before anything bobs across from China Edited August 30, 2014 by bill badger
