Class 309 EMU Parts

A 309 is inappropriate for my layout, but I do think they are very nice units. IIRC they were used for a very short period on London - Manchester services.

On a "Rule 1" basis, it was originally intended to use them on services from Euston to the Midlands when WCML was electrified. I am not sure why it did not happen.

Late in their career, a few did go up north but not used on any services to London.

There were a few railtours using them.

Edit: According to Wikipedia, although they were not diagrammed to run on the Regional Railways NW service from Manchester to London, it did happen a few times when a Class 322 was not available. Of course, by then they had been refurbished (in Jaffa Cake days) so the conversion work on the Bachmann coaches would be a bit more complicated.
