Thank you for making so many of the structures on my layout!

Any chance of a 4mm model of a large LSWR type-4 signal box with the brick central panel such as at St Denys, similar to the boxes that survive at Woolston or Haslemere?

I am glad our kits were useful to you!

We are going to be expanding the signal box series later this year. I am currently planning a more northern signal box (possibly LSWR) and something for the east of England. We have platforms in O gauge and few other bits to finish before we can start on the signal boxes.

Can you tell me where the prototype of my LCUT "SR 55c LSWR/SR OO gauge platform mounted small signal box" is?

Is it the former signal box at Swanwick (LSWR) on the Southampton to Fareham line?

Hi Andrew, Yes the kit SR 55c is based on that signal box.

Big heads up for this supplier. Why have I not found them before the Donny Exhibition? Doh! Saw the items (4mm SR) on Sunday afternoon, ordered some bits Monday, email almost by return and first class delivery Tuesday. Excellent service.

Agreeing with that Phil. I've used LCUT for a few bits and pieces before and the service is exemplary.

I found some great pictures of Swanwick Signal Box (the prototype for kit SR55c) 2min and 30s into this video :

Brilliant - thank you.  That answers a whole raft of questions about details and colour schemes.

I’m part way through building the LCut large Signal Box that I purchased at the Doncaster show.

So far so good, goes together nicely, good detail and very sturdy. There’s not much in the way of instructions but to be honest you don’t really need them if you built anything before.

A couple of piccies if the work so far.

Looking great! Apologies about the instructions, we are working on them. Most of the newer kits have much more detailed instructions. Example being O gauge signal boxes such as B 70-07L

I still need to go through all of the older instructions and update them.

Woolston Signal Box, shown in the picture, is Grade II listed and a nice example of the once common LSWR Type-4 signal box design. It is situated on the platform of Woolston station.

The frame is preserved as part of the reconstruction of Midford Signal Box by the Somerset & Dorset Railway Trust, at Washford Station on the West Somerset Railway.

Introducing O gauge platforms

Following on the feedback received we have introduced platform system in O gauge. Platforms are available as island platform units as well as platform edging. Platform edging has been made from appropriate material to allow curving it.

Just wondering if there is any likelihood of interior wall and fittings to go with your 00 gauge rang of buildings.

This might be a tall order given the existing internal structural items, but it would br nice to section up the smaller buildings with doors , walls, booking halls and fireplaces and general station fittings.

Hi,

We have started thinking and working on interior fittings for buildings few months ago starting with the interior for the lineside office. We are planning to do a range of interior for stations at some point in the future but it won't happen for a while unfortunately.

Best regards

there are some truly wonderful models here  would it be possible to produce a Large Mill building/industrial building taller than those that are already availible?

Hi,

We already have parts for the walls of the mill. The warehouse/factory wall panels come in 3 flavors depending on your requirements.

We also have a chimney kit:

http://lcut.co.uk/index.php?product=B%2000-24&title=B%2000-24

There is no dedicated mill/factory kit at the moment but we are going to be expanding the range quite significantly this and next year. I will see what I could do about producing an out of the box mill bundle. As with other bundles it would be modular and expandable. You could have as many floors as you would require. We also do have floor parts so you could then add interior details to it.

Best regards

Jakub

Sorry only just seen your question.

First the whole brick area was painted with slightly thinned Railmatch ‘concrete’ by brush. Then when dry I applied a few coatings of humbrol ‘red brick’ using a mederately dry brush - load up and then remove most on a sheet of kitchen roll, then apply keeping the brush on a slight angle. The mortar joints are not massively deep (although scale depth) so you do tend to fill some of it with brick colour. Work in a downward motion where possible and differences in shades from more or less paint give a bit of a weathered effect. The technique works better on Wills sheets which are slightly over scale but still a reasonable effort on here.

Another heads up for L Cut. On Fridaylast I spent several hours exploring the possibility of using LCut parts for their Island Platform building (and some others) to recreate a version of the Down and Branch Platform Building at Seaton Junction circa 1960 and place an order by the website (so easy to use for me, a digital duffer). I was able to use the excellent parts diagram of the station kit available on the web site and then choose various parts from that as the buildings are quite different in many ways. I was not able to recreate certain features but careful planning had enabled me to order a long list of parts and I believe that will create enough of what I want to see.

My reason for posting is that this was an 'unusual' order for many parts, not a 'kit'. The package arrived yesterday morning. Top rate customer service.

Hi Phil,

Thank you very much! I am glad everything arrived in timely manner and that you are happy with your order. Happy modelling!

Best regards
