Well done with the SB Class 22, Phill. You look to have done a far better job of the windscreens than I did, & the cab roof. I just ditched the castings & used brass sheet & miliput, but did lose some of the subtle contours in the process.

You made a great job of yours Jordan  :sungum:  .......could I ask how you went about doing the body underskirts/ access flaps  or whatever they were called?  :scratchhead:

Bit more soldering & filling on the Class 22 today mainly around the cab step area. I have also trial fitted the bogies & fuel tanks.

I have also done a bit of research on this class & i am deciding which member of the class this loco will become.

I had already decided it will be finished in BR Blue with full yellow ends & I want one of the last few members of the class based at Laira or Bristol Bath Road.

For the valances I cut them into the individual sections, & made a forming tool from a piece of seel plate with a steel rod of aprox 1.5mm diameter soldered along it. Each piece of valance was then held against the former in a vice, & folded up over the rod to form the curve along the valance. I did have some photos of the process but may have deleted them as it was a few years ago now.

If you can’t find your photos, I’ve got copies and will post them tomorrow.

Dave

If you could, Dave, that would be most helpful, as I don't have them any more.

Phil; remember too that the cast springs for the bogies are 'wound' the wrong way; I made my own from solder wrapped around a plastic rod.

... and that one set of grills is in the wrong place on the body - I only noticed once I added transfers, and had to do a rather nerve-wracking fix.

Grills to left of totem too far from side doors & too close to main square grill -

Grills removed -

... and refitted in correct location, allowing more room for the BR totem. The etched squares in the body behind the grills had to be filled in flush too.

After all that nonsense, I'm rather looking forward to the strenuous task of Opening The Box when I get a Little Loco Co. Class 22. :mosking:

The photos. Jordan apologises for the quality in his thread! It was 2008 and a phone camera. We've come a long way since then!

I have the complete original 2008 RMWeb thread with all photos included which I can send as a .pdf if anyone wants it. Send me a PM with your email address.

Dave
