Now some rolling stock.

The "13.45 goods from Hayle Wharf". These were displayed as a train, but I couldn't take studio shots of the entire rake.  Built by Andy Carlson, these won the John Barker Trophy.

Rich, the livery on the horseboxes is much paler than I had been imagining, based on no more than a guess that they'd be similar to equivalent passenger livery (i.e. teak or later crimson for GER). Do yours represent faded teak, or was horsebox livery a pale colour?

Unusually this year, there were a lot of coaches on display.

This rake of GWR corridor stock is impressive. The builder is John Aldrick.

There was also a rake of GWR Cornish Riviera stock from John Aldrick which was hemmed in by other models so I was unable to get good photos but it is a superb model with detailed interiors.

These coaches were coupled up as a rake so I didn't want to take them apart to get studio shots.

Here are Ian Smith's lovely GWR 4-wheelers, These won the Dreadnought Trophy.

I read somewhere that the GCR used Oak for their vehicles. I haven't found details for the LD&ECR that they came from in 1906 though. I thought about painting the GER one crimson but figured that it was unlikely to have been repainted by 1921 and much the home stock for the layout will be crimson because the GWR were using that colour at that time. I think that they should probably all be a lot darker but perhaps not as much as a proper varnished wood finish would have become because imitation teak was used on a lot of non-passenger vehicles according to what research I have done. I also found a reference to light umber for GCR vehicles, but without enough supporting information (dates &c) to make a decision.

Mark,

The Prairie and GWR corridor sets are by John Aldrick of Leeds. He attends our L & Y Group meetings so we have seen the coach numbers multiplying over the months. They are destined for Peter Kermond's model of St Ives. Peter himself as built half a dozen of the small Prairies (as noted in his MRJ article) as they would be needed for double-heading the up and down Riviera when it ran to St Ives.

Looks like there was some real top notch modelling on show this year! Shame I couldn't get down to see it.  Can I ask what won the Groves trophy?

Simon

It wasn't awarded as there were no entries. 2014 seems to have been the year of the coach!

If Ian Smith had finished his small Metro it could have been another cup for him. The build is on RMweb.

Don

Don,

It's getting there though.  The bunker is now complete, and tonight I've made the tool boxes and tank fillers for the top of the tanks.  There's still a bit to do before Warley (where I'm hoping it will have a guest appearance on St Ruth for some of the weekend - it will be able to swap turns with my saddle tank taking it in turns hauling my 4 wheelers).  When I've made a bit more progress I'll update my blog.

It's two weeks now since the AGM so just when will the Association Website get up to date with photos.of winning models?

These tasks are undertaken by volunteers who can sometimes find it difficult to do them as quick as they would like. Sometimes we have to be a little patient.

I would have hoped that those who took photos would send them in voluntarily. I emailed some of those who posted photos a week ago asking for copies.

Nothing received and no replies.

Most changes to the website get done within 24 to 48 hours of receipt of material.

Nigel

I have received no email requesting copies of those I have posted (I have checked my spam folders). I did not send them to you because they were not fully comprehensive as I did not get photos of all entrants. I also assumed that someone had agreed to take  photo specifically for Association use and did not want to bombard you with more.

You are quite welcome to copies of mine. Do you want the compressed versions on here or the full sized originals?

Don
