Looks to be a cracking good line up once again. Even if you are not an EM modeller, this show has got to be worth a visit, for the sheer quality of the layouts, demos and trade.

Mind you, I am biased as I will be there with Leighton Buzzard of Buckingham fame. It is hoped that Stephen and Crispin Denny will come along as operators. Last time we had a get together it was LBs first outing since the MRJ show and we had great fun.

New year update on expoEM at Bracknell:

As previously mentioned all the layouts (in fact with the exception of Leighton Buzzard) have won an expo Best LAyout award so to celebrate the EMGs 60th birthday it will be the best of the best.  Not an easy task to decide on the Best Layout in show for sure.  Those invited are:

Alkham y the late Ian Hollis

Clarendon by the Leamington club

Prospect Wharf by Mik Bell

Striven by the late Chris Matthewman

Wibdenshaw by Kier Hardy

West Cliff by Richard Butler

Grayscroft Mine by Paul Gallon

Rye Town by Stephen Hannington (won the "best of the Best at our 50th anniversary show) now owned by Chris Jackson

Clatterford by the Barking club

Hemyock by Chris Lamacraft

and recognising its historical place in the history of EM, Rev Peter Dennings Leighton Buzzard

I'll be booking demonstrations in the weeks ahead - so some RM Webbers can expect a call from me!!!!!

I have never managed to get to this show before but have put this years one in the diary.

You won't regret going - a very informal but friendly atmosphere, no barriers so you can get close to the layouts and talk to the operators. It's one of the shows that I really don't like missing.

I missed a layout off the list - Foxup , built by Michael Hensbury and now in the safe hands of Philip McGovern and Mike Peascod - sorry chaps.

In the process now of twisting some arms for lectures.......... One arm that didn't need any twisting at all was Roy Jackson's.  Roy and his merry men have supported expoEM ever since the concept was conceived so I have invited Roy to provide a talk on progress with Retford - possibly the most ambitious privately owned EM layout that has been conceived in the history of EM modelling????

Hi Does anyone know what trade stands will be attending?, as this will be a deciding factor as to whether I go with a shopping list, the website does not list who is attending only layouts.

We are still chasing a few stragglers but will post the list so far in nxt day or two.

Many thanks for the list of traders, there seems to be a problem with the EM web site. Does anyone have a list of the demonstration stands?

Ray.

The EMGS website is undergoing maintenance and I've had some problems logging on. Apparently due to problems migrating across servers, some data has been corrupted and needs to be sorted before the website can become fully functional again.

Public apology to John Redrup of London Road for unintentionally missing him off the list of traders.  Sorry John.....

Only a month to go now.  I think traders have all got their final instructions.  Will be getting the final info to demos and layouts within the next week or so.

I'll post the list of demos and lecturers in the next few days.....

I have given up working out how to paste the list of demos and lecturers onto RM Web.  But we have 3 lectures each day by:

Ray Hodson - Resistence Soldering (entirely selfishly I need to start using my unit and need a refresher on how to use it!! Ray will also be doing a demo)

Roy Jackson - Retford Update (previous post refers....)

Karl Crowther - how to signal your layout (he is also doing a demo on signal construction - again selfishly I have some MSE products to build so expect to find me sitting with Karl for part of the weekend).

Will advise the other demos over the weekend.  Most are from the EMGS Area Group network.  they are a key part of the Society that bring local members together to share knowledge, learn from each other and bring a social dimension to the hobby.  I wanted to celebrate this as part of our 60th anniversary.

That's it for now.  Going o my workbench - am building a model of Marlow engine shed at the mo and glued the sides together earlier.

Your list is incorrect in as much as I am coming as Wild Swan Books and not the Titfield Thunderbolt.

I could bring other books as well if you really insisted......
