I have a few memories of the 1962/3 winter in Exeter but I was only 3 and the drifts seemed massive!

Since 1971 i have lived in Weston and remember significant snow on only 6 or 7 occasions.

I don't have many snow shots but here is one more for this thread from the same winter

One of Bath Roads class 31/4s outside its home depot is 31421, they had been mainly used on the Portsmouth Harbour and Weymouth services before the 33s took over, 11/12/81

To finish off my little journey along the Portsmouth - Cardiff route behind class 31s, here are two from Salisbury. and one from Southampton.

Firstly one showing a passenger train arriving on the former platform 1 at Salisbury, which after resignalling was no longer used by passenger services.

this was also when a number of trains started or terminated at Bristol and not Cardiff.

31401 is in chage of the 15.14 Bristol Temple Meads - Portsmouth Harbour, 23/4/80

Scanned a couple more Class 31 photos:

31268 leaving Old Oak Common with vans on 16th Sept 1986.

post-15533-0-62526700-1417726565_thumb.jpg

Unidentified 31 at St Albans on a "Network South East" Day in 1986. The loco and BG arrived and then reversed into the siding by the old signal box. After a passenger train had gone past the 31 departed northwards. Not sure if there was a loading platform in the siding, or whether it was just to get the 31 out of the way of the passenger train. It did seem an old-fashioned sort of thing to do, especially when there are slow lines all the way from St Pancras to Bedford.

Those Network South East Days were good value, I seem to remember.

The unidentified 31 at St Albans is 31121. Disc headcode and no footsteps in the former gangway doors.
