kitefighter
Hi, I'm trying to remove couplings at one end of a Graham Farish Diesel Locomotives Class 40 & Class 45 so that I can realistic looking vacuum pipes at the front end. I'm familiar with OO gauge NEM couplings which can be pinched or tugged out. No idea how it's fastened for an N gauge couples are fastened within the bogies or how to remove. Can someone tell me how or point me in the right direction? Apologies from a newbie to N gauge.
PLD
The 40 and 45 are pre NEM designs so have the old style sprung couplings. the easiest way is to remove the bogie frame (they just clip on to the central block). At this point the spring will probably make a bid for freedom and the coupling simply drops out.
kitefighter
Hello, Thanks for the reply. I assume you mean the strip of plastic at the base of the bogie? I'll give it a try this evening...
bluedepot
i think it you twist the coupling round on it's side you can pull it out (with a bit of force maybe, pull it upwards...) that's what I did on my class 45 anyway... tim
Stevelewis
Thats usually sufficient Twist & Pull! and usually lose the spring!!
